Christian Socialism - need a book as a gift

does anybody know of any good christian socialist writer? or liberation theology? a good book on theory.... and if its in spanish.. then we hit the jackpot.

I think what would be of most interest to you is the liberation theology of the central american revolutions of the seventies and eighties. Traditional christian socialism like the sort which inspired the Chartist movement in 19th century england is non-existant, and contemporary christian socialist parties in Europe are a far cry from what you're probably looking for if your Neruda quote is any indication of your interests. In any case I would recommend Ernesto Cardenal a Nicaraguan priest and poet whose verse reveals the spiritual motivation linking christianity and socialism in the modern world. Try "cosmic canticle" I'm sure anyone you gave it to would be deeply appreciative.
