Was just reading a thread about the band 'The Redskins' which made me think of other bands with great music (if you like mid-80's jangly Manchester indie) and leftist lyrics. I did a search and was very surprised to see no-one has mentioned Easterhouse.

They were a Manchester band in the mid-1980's named after the Easterhouse area of Glasgow. The two main guys in the band were brothers and were in the Revolutionary Communist Party. They produced one fantastic album called 'Contenders' in 1986 before splitting up (although there was a later album, by them, but it was pretty much a solo album of the singer and not very good).

Anyway, there's a few vids on Youtube, including some live stuff, but the best vids I can find are audio tracks from the album, but with the lyrics included. Check them out they are rather good.

Thanks for that. I'd completely forgotten about Easterhouse.

1988 was a bad time for political music in Britain as everyone was loved up on E and raving.
