Anybody see his run in the 100m at the World Championships?
What a fantastic performance. Absolutely thrilling to see and a delight to actually have the privilege of seeing it happen (albeit only on TV). Not only is he a fantastic runner and now the fastest person in history, but he does it with a smile on his face and looks like he is just out for a jog without a care in the world. Hopefully it will inspire kids to get out and do some exercise.
The big question though, is just how fast can he go? 9.58 seconds for the 100m was a stunning performance and although he seemed to be putting in a bit more effort than he did at the Olympics, he still seemed to have something left in the tank. According to some scientist on the radio today, the human body only has the potential to do the 100m in 9.51 seconds at best. Surely Bolt has the ability to beat this now and as history has shown, times repeatedly come down - by an average of one tenth of a second every decade - even his new world record must be under threat at some point. There has to be a limit, but just where will it be? In the meantime, how long is this new world record going to stand? I suspect only for as long as he wants it to. I think he may save something special for the next Olmpic games.
