The best bang for my buck that I ever got on dub or reggae was when I did an itunes search for lee perry, sorted the results in descending order of song length, and downloaded the best songs, longest ones first. His music is so spread all over the place that you can't get the best of it by buying albums, you have to search and download.

Good reggae groups not mentioned yet are the Gladiators, Culture, and Mikey Dread. If you've heard the Clash's Sandinista!, you'll recognize Mikey Dread's voice right away. He's toasts on a lot of the tracks.

Good dub not mentioned is Tappa Zukie. His album MLPA is mentioned by name by the Sex Pistols ("Is this the MLPA? Or is this the UDA? Or is this the IRA?"), and his album In Dub is my fav dub album EVAR.

Another classic reggae album, especially since you said you like the Maytals, is the soundtrack to the 70's movie The Harder They Come. At one time it was kind of the standard British punk rocker's intro to reggae. It's not quite as soul-y as the Maytals, but it's very melodic stuff.

Among the originators of ska, Count Ossie & Mystic Revelation of Rastafari are often overlooked. Only two albums I think but worth finding.

No one mentioned Burning Spear yet..."Do You Know Social Living Is The Best?"

Burning Spear are amazing.

If you're looking for something more aggressive, dubsteppy-ish then I definitely reccommend Mistabishi.

Ive been into ska and reggae (never like dub though) since as far as I can remember, but lately, my interest in it has cooled off a bit, but there are a few songs which never goes out of style. I pretty much only like the older stuff like Prince Buster, Skatalites, Pioneers, Gaylads and the likes. Heres a few of the things I use to listen to.

Fabulous Five Inc - Come Back And Stay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B904zxQD3N0)

Max Romeo - Shes But A Little Girl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7-mfU4zwM8)

The Prophets - Tumble Time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJXczEf31zQ&feature=related)

The Classics - History Of Africa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZm9HOzTAxQ&feature=related)

Culture - Two Sevens Clash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc4MTN3ORWo&feature=related)

Thats pretty much the best of the best, as far as Im concerned.

EDIT: Almost forgot one of the best ska-songs Ive ever heard, The Skatalites - Smiling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvHMlQAQ4ig). Its amazing.

My favourite reggae/dub act at the moment is Pama International.
7 albums so far and the lastest 'Pama Outernational' is their best yet. Pama's line up also includes ex-Specials guitarist Lynval Golding.

Here is a live tune from the new album.

I'm listening to Toots and the Maytals right now. I'll check out some other stuff in this thread though, because the extent of the music I have comes from a few Trojan compilations and a couple of artist albums, such as this one :)

This is probably not what you're looking for, but I recently got into a band called 8 6 Crew while I was looking for music to help my French. Since my post count isn't high enough to post links, just search for "8 6 crew laisse moi rever" on youtube.
I'm not very good at classifying music into genres but it's kind of like 3rd wave ska without the pop-punk influence (if that even makes any sense).
