Very interesting story. The military/police cooperation isn't particularly surprising, but to realize this is almost certainly just the tip of the iceberg is chilling.

Seemingly many agents, spies, what not, behave in ways that might (or should) give those they work around in the various radical movements reason to pause. They traditionally over-advocate violence, go out of their way to create dissension and rarely quietly 'go along'. Most of what I've read or heard about supports this (although probably the majority of the moles went undetected thus making this *general rule* far too simplistic and dull, but I digress).
This "John Jacob" apparently did none of these stereotypical informant activities. However, a former military enlistee and now civilian imperialist war machine employee definitely should have been viewed with a bit more of a jaundiced eye no matter how amiable he seemed, and to give him List Serve access is embarrassing. I wasn't there - so it's easy to pass judgement, but all of us need to study these instances to help avoid making the same mistakes in our own activist groups. It's not being paranoid to keep a watch out for these pigs because they are most definitely among us.

It is illegal for military personnel to police the general population. This story should be more well known.
