See the previous Debate Nominations thread here. (http://www.revleft.com/vb/great-debates-nominations-t107574/index.html)

And see an explanation of the Debate Threads concept here. (http://www.revleft.com/vb/great-debates-t107573/index.html)

Any subject with 3 nominations will be added to the poll.

Is the distinction between economic "base" and cultural "superstructure" useful and/or necessary?

One nomination in 3 days? I guess I'll second that nomination.

If there's a continued lack of interest in this I'll let it die a slow death.

Whats the point in this debate? Obviously it's both useful and necessary! Is there anyone who doesn't agree on here?

Why don't we have a debate, because clearly with the rise of "identity politics" and Reagan-Thatcherism during the '80s, the issue is of some import to Left organizing. I at least promise to provide an alternate point of view.:)

Well I'll add all the nominations so far since there aren't many made. I'll make the poll in a day or two.

EDIT: Meh, only a couple people seem to be interested in this enough to actively participate, so it probably won't work. I'll close this thread then.
