Can somebody give me the name of a good Socialist book NOT written by Marx, Lenin, etc. Ive read all of those, I am looking for a more recent (last 30 years or so) book.
Thanks

Well… just to name a few I would recommend:

Socialism: Past and Future by Michael Harrington (1989)

The other America by Michael Harrington (1997)

The Snarling Citizen by Barbara Ehrenreich (1995)

Restoring hope: Conversations on the Future of Black America Cornel West (1997)

Not Your Father’s Union Movement: Inside the AFL-CIO by Jo Ann Mort

Why Market Socialism? Voices of Dissent edited by David Belkin and Frank Roosevelt

The American Radical edited byPaul Buhle, Mari Jo Buhle, and Harvey J. Kaye

Another very good book by Harrington is The Twilight of Capitalism, which, though out of print, is available online at used book sites, which is where I got mine. Well worth it, too.

Chomsky is an anarchist. He is known for critisizing communism. I like Chomsky though, most of his works focus sole on capitalism and american government.
