i was just wondering if many of you have heard of the green book. it was the IRA volunteer's handbook, and dealt with the many questions a volunteer might ask. it also gives guidelines on how to survive interrogation, and what methods one may except to find if arrested.

although i do not know if it is printed on its own, i do know large extracts exist in "The IRA" and "The Troubles" both by Tim Pat Coogan

I read 'The IRA' and saw some of the extracts. I don't think the book is easy to get, though, sadly. I'd like to read it, it looks good.

I actually got the Green Book in the back of another book, 25 Years of Terror: The IRA's War Against The British by Martin Dillon

I've read a couple of books by Martin Dillon... "The Dirty War" and "God and the Gun"... I highly recomend his books for anyone interested in learning about the troubles.

Yeah, it was the full Green Book. I think Martin Dillon is one of the best writers on the Troubles.
