Now he's back peddling on a public option for health care. I swear this guy is all smoke and mirrors. He is simply a liberal's wet dream, nothing more. Instead of appearing on Jay Leno and SNL and what ever other show yuppies watch, he should've stood firm on a nationalized health care plan.

He never supported universal healthcare. His campaign ad last year said that he was standing in some kind of stupid "middle" stance between the "extremes" of "big government/socialized medicine/high taxes" and " dishonest nsurance companies".

So it was pretty obvious from the start. All this bullshit about a "public " option is just obfuscation, they can say "public option" and make it look like it's something great when it's just more corporate crap.

I voted for Obama with the full knowledge and understanding that he is a pro-capitalist reformer. Although I am disappointed by his waffling over the healthcare issue, I am not surprised. Nor am I surprised at the ferocity with which the corporations and the Republicans have defended their interests.

A nice read on the topic by the Weekly Worker of last week: Wobbling to the right (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/worker/780/wobbling.php).

Obama is just the product of 1) the capitalist political system and 2) the USīs two-party system.

Another good article on this matter by the Weekly Worker of this week: Half-measure scandal (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/worker/781/halfmeasure.php).

Obama is an asshole who never had any intention in the first place to implement his magical change.

If only he listened to his doctor:

This would come as no surprise if you read the left-wing press during the campaign prior to the election. For example Lance Selfa in the Socialist Worker (http://socialistworker.org/2008/08/14/chasing-the-obama-mirage), Paul Street in ZMag (http://www.zmag.org/znet/viewArticle/19027), Jim Creegan in Weekly Worker (http://bit.ly/4nOFSv) and Patrick Martin in WSWS (http://www.wsws.org/articles/2008/oct2008/deb-o09.shtml).

I especially enjoy Paul Street's column. He does an excellent job at debunking the Obama phenomenon from a socialist POV.
