View Full Version : Roseanne Barr Hitler controversy

She dressed up as Hitler, with a pan of burnt people-shaped cookies. This was a reference to the Holocaust. In the second photo she is putting one of the cookies in her mouth and has a swastika armband. This was in a "Jewish humor" magazine called "Heeb" and her reasoning for this was based on her making fun of him as a Jewish woman. It still freaks me out that anyone could think of it as humor and not offensive even if the person doing it is Jewish.

not funny, the reason no one has done it before is it isn't funny just an attempt to push the boundaries that ended up stacking over them

That isn't funny but I think Roseanne is just a real life troll. Like her national anthem "controversy." That was actually kind of funny though, because getting a rise out of patriotic baseball fans is funny, (while mocking the holocaust is decidedly not so.)

IIRC, she did get a lot of shit from the media establishment for bashing the Israeli government for their attack on Gaza last year. She must have one of those personalities that goes "If you get pissed, I'm going to piss you off even more." However, I think there is something more to this than simple celebrity attention-seeking.

Emmy-award winning comedienne Roseanne Barr, herself of Jewish ancestry, has nonetheless blasted Israel for its recent attacks on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, calling Israel a "Nazi state" bent on torturing "the Jewish soul."

"The destruction of the Jews in Israel has been assured with this inhuman attack on civilians in Gaza," Barr writes on her blog. "Exactly as its Nazi mentors did to the Jews of Warsaw, Israel now bombs innocent civilians who have been imprisoned in concentration camps in Gaza!"

She continues, "The Zionists look German! The Palestinians look like the Jews of Poland! The Jewish people have destroyed themselves in Gaza."
Her venom over the attacks, however, has not been reserved only for the Israeli state, but stings American Christians, too.

Her blog posts a picture of a bloodied and bandaged boy reportedly wounded in the recent days' airstrikes with the caption, "This is what the pro-life, right wing, neo con, evangelical, Zionist, Bible-banging Americans really mean when they say: 'America is a Christian nation,' or when they say: 'Israel must defend itself,' or when they say: 'The Bible is the Word of God.'"

Raised in a family of both Jewish and Mormon faiths, Barr now claims on her website, "I am a kabbalist, as was Jesus Christ."

As WND reported earlier, Barr has long blamed "Zionists" for tension and violence in the Middle East.

Two years ago, Barr explained, "The Arabs do not invade other countries. The Israelis do. I am sick of Israel and I am sick of Zionists. They are propped up by evangelical Christians who cannot wait for the Arabs to kill them so that their genocidal war god whom they misname Jesus can come back."

Do you really want to understand the conflict in the Middle East? You have to listen to what the terrorists say behind closed doors. Only one man has been listening to them - Aaron Klein, WND's Jerusalem bureau chief and author of "Schmoozing With Terrorists."

In blog posts from the last week, Barr maintained her pattern of blaming Israeli nationalism for not only the Middle East's troubles, but America's as well.

Starting with Rahm Emmanuel, whom Barr labels a "brutal person who supports the liquidation of the Gaza Ghetto," Barr declares, "Remove Israel's influence from American government! Their occupation of and brutality against their neighbors is the real reason we were attacked on 9-11!"

Her blog further urges Americans to boycott cosmetics company L'Oreal for "financing the Nazi attack on the people of Gaza"; demands the U.N. divide Jerusalem into Jewish, Muslim, and Christian parts ruled by tribunal from all three religions; and pleads with Israeli soldiers to disobey orders and "refuse to be Nazis."

There's this thing called "shock value" some comedians use it. Usually to hide the fact they're not actually funny.

Heard of it?

Hi guys,
I did not watch the photos or the video.I sort of know that R is some sort of star in the american tv.And that he had some problems with Trump.
Not that I wanted to know about it;you get of this useless bits of un-reality and I guess it is part of the process of alienation.Millions(?) of americans may find something fullfilling in following the ups and down of superstars.
We should probably not even comment on this bullshit; still, life is not always reading or doing important thing.
So here is my uninformed take on this: R seems to be critical of israel's aggression.
This is good. Then she does some humor putting the nazi in the equation. Not so good,I am pro everything(everything) the palestinians are doing. Not because I like violence, it is that I sort of follow the old idea(marxist and communist) that the violence of the oppressed is a response to the violence of the oppressor.
I do not give a damn about R, I am a little more worried that nazism enters any discussion concerning the palestinian. The zionist have used-it seems forever- the tragedy of the Shoah to impose their state(or entity);the Holocaust is losing in importance(as everything does with the passing of time) and "antisemitism" is the new winning point.I feel a little sad(or upset) that comrades of jewish descent are often into it.I am an italian and I do not give a damn.I am supposed to be a christian and I do not care at all.Visiting web sites of the left you find all kind of "jews against zionism",and similar "organizations".
Not a good thing
Ciao
I suggest we do not pay much attention to what superstar do/say.They are often pretty confused human beings;they do tend also to be very manipulative(spelling?).so for all I know R wanted to be on the news, you know "publicity is always good".
Happy that she lost weight,in the video she looks like somebody in need of some diet.

Hitler/Nazi jokes are so overdone I don't find any of them funny anymore...however, this was done to be as crude as possible. I doubt I would have found it funny anyway.

Didn't find it at all offensive, just stupid. I really don't have a problem with humor like that as long as its done satirically...not for a mean laugh at the subject or target, or just for mindless shock value like this was.

She probably didn't give a shit what the Zionists thought.

Why would that be offensive? I'm offended that all of the nazi party was recycled as post-war christian conservative one; I'm offended that the west let the criminals out early; I'm offended that the bourgeois behind fascism got on completely unharmed retaining their aryanized property. I'm offended about how the german antisemitism was turnt into a western zionist philosemitism. But I couldn't care less about cookies.
