If you try to implement economic equality without political equality, then those with political power will use their power to get more economic perks for themselves.

If you try to implement political equality without economic equality, then those with economic power will use their power to buy political power (campaign contributions, political advertisements, think tank funding, media ownership - look at Italy today, etc.)
