It's being said by so-called insiders that Clinton already has assurances that the reporters will be released, thus making his visit one of publicity more than anything else. North Korea wants to engage, so perhaps the ball's in Obama's court.
Capitalist media story of the Clinton visit here (http://www.mail.com/Article.aspx/world/asia/APNews/Asia/20090804/U_AS-NKorea-Journalists-Held?pageid=1).

This is obviously "back door negotiation" even though the Obama admin has denied this. I'm sure it has little to do with the journalists and is more about Nuclear arms. This will also be a great propaganda opportunity for the DPRK.

Well, they're free. I guess the whole affair with the reporters was a good opportunity to test the waters, diplomatically. Bear in mind that we've only had "axis of evil" rhetoric for the past years. Now, they can directly negotiate with the more pragmatic Clinton again.

Nice to see pictures, too. I thought Kim was dead, but those stalinists had hidden the truth from The People with their evil photoshopping ways. Let's patiently wait for another compelling story along those lines.

All I can say is that Im very happy at what has just happened. This is a good thing for north korea, as it was in a sence, a porn in their court (they could have done what they wanted). The western media could have (and still could) made a big circus over this. They could spread hate like only the west can.

Those two reporters could so easially work with the US government, making the North [korea] to be like a version of hell on earth, and im sure they will. But if this had have been in so many other places on this earth, they wouldnt have had a chance (to be released).

Bill Clinton is the only person (other than the other socialist leaders, Castro et al) Who could have done this with the exception of Obama. I wonder whether or not his visit had anything thing to do with fact that NK slated Hillary, stating that she was just a show-person, and just there to intimidate them?

I was hoping that they would have broadcasted the journalists executions on Al-Jazeera
and then the DPRK would have launched their glorious nukes towards the western seaboard
using the fact that U.S. citizens invaded the motherland therefore justifying their overboard response.

But of all presidents why send Bill Clinton.
I wish they had sent Bush. That would have been interesting.

Eh?What I meant was that though they where wrong in detaining these two reporters, they could technically have done what they have like to them. I mean, anything is a properganda coup for them really. NK could have seriously reached low depths, but in the end, they didnt.

The White House didn't want to send any official Obama officials. Originally Al Gore was going to go, but the DPRK wanted someone that was higher profile, thus Clinton.

Now if only Kim could come to the US and wins the release of Mumia and Leonard Peltier!

If they had sent Bush, we wouldn't be here right now.
