Before I joined this forum pretty much all I heard about these guys was bad, but from looking around on these forums it seems some people are supporters of them. Is it possible someone could give me some unbiased facts or biography's on Mao and Guevara?

It might be that people support their policies but not their actions, I don't know, I'm a bit confused as to what is anti-communist propaganda and what is unadulterated fact.

Also, I have another, unrelated, question- what are dialectics? Sorry if I seem ignorant at all. :)

I think one of the better Biographies on Che Guevara is from the movies that portray him. Both the Motorcycle diaries with Gael Garcia and the ones with Benicio Del Toro. Which follow Che Guevara's more adventurous parts of his life. They are quite historical accurate. Che Guevara wrote a diary all throughout his life they are a great source of unadulterated information on his life.

I don't know where you'd find the best Mao Biography. This is a short but okay one, http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/COLDmao.htm

Dialectical Materialism is the philosophy behind Marxism. Its a process of interpreting the world. Dialectics basically meaning constantly changing and interacting, the new struggling against the old and the new eventually overcoming the old. Opposites conflicting until something new developes. It explains everything from Evolution of Organisms to Revolutionary Proletariats, its a general world outlook. However I would be careful who you ask as there are some crazy people on this forum who will troll and flame you. If you're interested in learning more about Dialectics there is a group called Dialectical Materialism which I encourage you to ask questions on.

Thanks Tupac, so how come there are people on this forum that support Mao when he's killed so many people? And can someone give a reason apart from just having commie-phobia why someone would hate/dislike Che Guevara? So if I annoy anyone with what I say.

Check your PMs, AGW.

And can someone give a reason apart from just having commie-phobia why someone would hate/dislike Che Guevara? He defended Stalin and disliked his successors (Khrushchev, etc.), regarding them as pseudo-communists. He was accordingly a semi-Leninist, so Anarchists and Left-Communists have a reason to dislike him.

AGW, people should be praised for there good deeds and condemned for their bad. But, that within itself is forever a subjective question. Mao and Guevara will be forever victim of far-right propaganda and Santa Clausification. Mao raised the literacy rate from less than 30% to over 90% in China, but he is not without MAJOR faults. The best thing to do is read as many sources as possible: don't aim for objectivity or neutrality, look at all perspectives and make a fully educated analsys. And never be afraid to praise a person for the good they did just because they did bad things, and never be afraid to condemn a person for bad things, just because they did good. :thumbup1:

Movies for biography of Che?:rolleyes: The sell out of his face, is in no way the best thing to ask for information, unless you are too bored to read a book..
For che i will propose "Ernesto Guevara also known as Che" by Pako Ignasio Taimpo II(not quite sure about the spell of the name) is a big book indeed, but it has a deep analysis, and trusted sources and gives a general look on che.I have to say it could be one of the greatest book i ever read.
On Mao i dont know, and on dialectics too, not my thing.
