For as long as I can remember I've always liked writing music/poetry, I can flow pretty easily, anyways I'm gonna post some of my work, {both in literature and music because my friends bands made them into songs, very RATM sounding ;) } tell me what you think of it.

cool- poetry is a great fomr of art. its always so individual and powerful (when done right ofcourse..;))

Limericks are a great past time...
There once was a capitalist in Spain,
Who gave his workers allota Pain.
They called a strike
Won without a fight
And he never tried that again!

Bad i know... but its a start...i hope....
(getting very worried about me sanity)

yeah i write my poetry. it suck though. i always tend to write it in spanish, that is my native language after all. plus sometimes, i feel so fake in english. i don't know if you'll understand.. since i live in california i'm surrounded by all this fakes who i can't stand! its a good thing i'm moving back to mexico next year. but people use this language as a mask. its not cool. anyways, back to the topic, i like poetry. its a very good way of expressing yourself.
you should post up more of your work

I try to write poetry sometime, but I've lost a lot of faith in my skills.

One way to develop confidence is to read poetry, find poems that have similar themes. You will find you are not so bad, dont look so much at the structure but the nature of your idea.

I write poetry, usually in the form of lyrics. Some are kinda political, but not overtly. I write social commentaries, like one song about office workers ("White Collar Slave"), one about the infiltration of American culture into British/European society ("The American Way") and one about the US presidential campaign ("Fashion Parade"). I also wrote a very angry song about Britney Spears ("Britney Spears is the Smiling Plastic Face of Corporate America") How good they are, I'm not sure...

I write poetry, not very good tho:) It's mostly political stuff, rap or hip hop lyrics, mood poetry and stuff, but i also write anything that comes on my mind. I write books too, mostly scifi, but they suck even more:)

"dont look so much at the structure but the nature of your idea"
Peaccenick: well, isn't the structure what makes something an art? Modern art seems to forgetting that...
And that's something that I dissaprove...and today's art is not something what I would consider as "art"...but that's my choice...ever red Heideggers" About The Essence of Art?"... " Putting in the world the truth of the essence..." (bad translation as always)...seen Schiele? Have opinion about his works? Or red (of course you have, stupid me) Hamsun? Isn't everything about the form, structure...? Sorry if I'm anoying you, but like to discuss with you... gives a new perspectives to me (bcs I always need arguments for letting something in my mind) Okay? Gosh, always complimenting you...(feel stupid)...well?

I think you are right but I think if a young writer takes to structure too early, she might lose the content of the idea. I think it is more important to get your ideas out first, then work them, shape them. The idea or theme is as eternal as humans. Years later you can go over old ideas with new ideas about structure and with a more mature voice and make the satisfaction in your heart that the structure has justified the content.

But isn'the point to translate yourself using a media?Ideas in art...no, never thought about that. Ideas? .....
constructs that people make....thanks, will think about that

My soul is lost...
I think. Perhaps misplaced

I just began looking for it
so i can't tell you how long it's been missing...
exactly

I'm searching for it, that's for sure
I'd not only like to search for it but also find it on my own

Seems like a struggle
acknowldgeing I let go....
of my only soul
so long ago

but now it's time
for us to reunite,
so off i go
to search for my lost, my missing, my misplaced soul

ta-dow, how you like me now?

o.m.g. that was absolute shite. lol It's that time of the month and I'm extraordinarly in pain and sleep deprived

and do you think that ls "The Hunger" is such an interesting idea to write about? Or an extraordinary one? Or that it's a construct that shows the imagination of the author?....still convinced that everything is in the structure and form.

All the mountains of my childhood are gone.
I am not dead or yet unborn
All those streams I passed, now faded.
and in all sweet love I feel this jaded
but bring me to the morn

this is how I would begin Quetzalli
but it is your feeling and when you
are more awake, you could reshape it.

I've never understood
what makes a poem, a poem
although I usually make a rhyme
just to make it harder

Truly masters of the art
of language can write
can add and twist and analogize
but not I

For young and budding I sat
on a cold wooden chair
mercilessly schooled
Poems were were supposed to revere

Shakespeare, Chaucer, Goethe...oh dear
If only teachers had pointed
to rock lyrics or to soul
we would have found a love

Now poetry is missing
only found on Hallmark cards
Children's homework
never in daily life

Why can an art form
be missing so completely?
Can you keep giving me poems?
My day is brighter.

i've always wanted to be poetic
seems like all i am is po-thetic

i got flow
but it be the kind that streams down my inner thighs
and that only comes once a month

i suck
pun intended

When I think of weather I think,
I think of weather I've thought.
Then I wonder "Why is Why?"
And weather I've wondered or not.

Glimmers of Hope

FIRST BREATHE

Evading city fatigue, the all pervading bustle
To the air and the sea and the greenery
That is the dream that rises above the clouds
those dull rain-makers of nightful day

To gather thoughts anew, so fresh
To blether with a gentle soul mate
To laugh like Olympian gods in unison
at the bizarre foibles of men in ruins

This is breathing with each sadness
This is teasing out the hours
catching nettles as they pass
This is sitting on the sea bank
toying with a blade of grass

BREATHE 2

Stoating in the city as is the habit of clientele
Listening to the inner angst of spectacular natives
The vital statistics of a national nightmare

Honing in on the groundswell of discontent
catching snatches of barking broken hearts
Irate tirades over last evening's viewing

The diaspora of outcast and vagabond assertion
Taking the high ground in an empty dispute
Placing inner bets on the outcome of a non-event

This is the beautiful voice of suicidal despair
running away from its sordid conclusion
Dancing, forever wanton, but dancing !

LAST BREATHE

It is worth a passing mention
The political situation
Vertical structures of Power and Wealth

If there is something more absurd
It is the claim that this human nature

Most people are inclined towards horizontal positions:
From lying down to speaking freely
From sleeping rough to quilted bed.
For every corpse and lover's rest -
Equality in a real way is human nature's only test
