The Cove - Heroic, epic and incredibly courageous. An independent film, that not only speaks but shouts its own mission and communicates the power of awareness.
I lived in Japan for a couple of years...and was actually appalled at how little the Japanese knew of the whaling and dolphin industry. Some of them turned a blind eye, some of them were shy... but most of them were just victims of a deplorable lack of education about the atrocities taking place in their own country.
This film takes place in Taijii,a small island off of the mainland. Prepare to be bewildered, horrified, and deeply saddened.

Check out The Cove trailer on YouTube. Please engage yourself in watching it as it only take a couple of minutes.

Also, check out the interview with Ric O'Barry - famed trainer of the dolphin tv stars Flipper. It is both riveting and painful.
Go to the NPR website, Fresh Air, Thursday July 30.

(I can't post links yet, or else I'd save you the effort)

And if you have seen the film... please let me know what you thought. Did it provoke you? Were you shocked to find out it was actually the dolphin trainers who were bidding and contributing toward the slaughter?
If you haven't seen the film... comment on the trailer or interview.
