has anyone read All Quiet On The Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque?
I have to read it for school but it's good.
It's a ww1 story told from the the point of view of a german soldier
I Have to write an essay on it and I think im gonna talk about examples of heroism and villany but if you guys know of any thing else worth discussing in it or stuff pertaining to my essay question let me know

Another good Book about war/anti-war is The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane.

i had to read it for school too. it was good, i just wish i didn't have a limited amount of time to read it and didn't have to analyze the language etc. for class.

i saw the all quiet on the western front movie, i thought it was a lot more interesting than the red badge of courage. i had to read the RBOC in the 7th grade, i guess that's why i didn't like it. i finally started to appreciate literature about a year ago.

i think you can also talk about the power of friendship, if you are desperate to fill up some space.

All Quiet is the greatest piece of literature about the first world war.

I think Johnny Got His Gun is better than All Quiet On The Western Front.

FANTASTIC! I absolutely loved this book. It was refreshing to read a book from a poin-of-view of a soldiers who is part of what history usually describes as "the bad guys". When you read about history, you read about the generals, the great war leaders, the politicians and the like. But this book shows you that ultimately, every soldiers is nothing but a human being, just like the guys he's fighting against. This guy's country may be aggressive, and imperialist, but he is just a person, just like me, just like the guy reading the book. Very powerful, a must-read.
