I figuire we'll have some fun with this:
Stalin for criminalizing male homosexuality with up to 5 years hard labor, and for making abortion illegal.
Ceasque (which I misspelt) for making abortion illegal.
Alexander Berkman before he was sent to prison, for seeing homosexuality as upper middle class decadence.
Every Soviet leader after Stalin for keeping homosexuality illegal
Mao for illegalizing homosexuality because it was a "mouldering lifestyle of capitalism".
Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) for describing homosexuality as "a production of capitalism" that "doesn't exist" under socialism, and LGBT people as "social pollutants."
Fidel Castro for keeping sex change operations illegal, Raul has since change this.
Enver Hoxha for making homosexuality punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Throw in anyone else you can think of.

Don't call yourself an anarchist and apologize for Lenin, Lenin was a scumbag who killed anarchists.

Oh come on. You're saying nobody should state a fact unless it helps support their ideology.
Really?

He also legalized homosexuality. Which is all that Verix said.

Engels would probably have to be restricted for offending somebody when he wrote about the ancient Greeks customs: "But the degradation of the women recoiled on the men themselves and degraded them too, until they sank into the perversion of boy-love...." (Origin of the Family, chapter 2).

This thread comes up a lot.
Ceasque
A rightwing CIA stooge and traitor to the working class if there ever was one.
Anywho, Daniel DeLeon (extreme sectarianism - IWW as "slum proletarians") and Eugene Debs (supported racial segregation !), most certainly.

Eugene Debs didn't support racial segregation. In fact, he didn't even address audiences unless they were fully integrated.

Engels would be restricted because he was technically a Capitalist. He owned a factory or something.
Nah I don't see why Engels would be, benhur wasn't and he owned loads of precious antiques or some shit.. and he thought that the working-class "have a victim mentality".
Also I find it hilarious that Jack has made this thread because of his crap stance on transsexuality, then he gets angry at people objectively telling him that Lenin wasn't a reactionary twat like he is.

Oh, what a fun game! I know, Proudhon and Kropotkin etc. Proudhon was a misogynistic old bastard, sexist etc. And Kropotkin supported a side during WW1 (which would have only got him restricted from then on).
But the point is, it doesn't matter. We are free to take the good, and ignore the bad.
(Also, I wouldn't label most of the people named in the first post "good leftists" anyway, too authoritarian for my tastes most of them...

Of course, many old socialist leaders held reactionary views, because most people did at the time. No one however cool is pure, most of us probably are still tainted by reactionary elements in our thought, because we live in a reactionary society. And in the same way, the socialist leaders of old times will have some reactionary views which are shocking by today's standards.
But it's stupid and pointless to hold them up to the standards of today. Are you saying we shouldn't restrict homophobes? Or we should completely discard all socialist theory because the people who made it were homophobic? What is the point in this thread?

It would be interesting to read some quotes on this (by both De Leon and Debs).

Lenin said some sexist things in his conflict with Kollontai about the issue of "free love", but can't find the exact source.
