I diagree, I think that majority of health employees are just the extension of the capitalist pharmaceutical lobby.
Even if you're the healtiest person on earth, they'll find you *something* in order to sell you some drugs or pills.

Too many completely healthy people are on "cool me down" drugs its crazy. And the real health risks behind these drugs are huge. Of course, you won't read it in your mainstream media.

They need sick people, its their target market.
Sure, you need a doctor when you break your arm, but otherwise extreme causion should be used.

Just my opinion, discuss if you want it.

What are you talking about? So excuse me, if someone has cancer, needs a surgery, dont feels fine, s/he shouldnt go to a doctor "because majority of health employees are just the extension of the capitalist pharmaceutical lobby " ? And how you got in this conclusion? Most doctors i met actually arent like that...
Anw if you think that to post a thread in here about your illness instead of going to a doctor then... i dont know what to say, as it gets outside of my logic.

While the above is partly true, it's mostly an dangerous exaggeration that leads to dangerous attitudes and behavior among many mentally ill people. I know this from personal experience.

Someone in my family is schizophrenic. I know some here will rightly think it's me and I don't blame them but no, I'm not the one I'm referring to here.

Anyway, I've known him since forever; we grew up together. A super-intelligent and unbelievably charming guy he was and still is! One day, seemingly out of the blue, he went psychotic. Just like that. Everyone that knew him was practically in hysterics trying to figure out what had happened to him. Even one or two of his junior college professors called or wrote to my family asking "WTF!"

The upshot of the story is this. After many years of treatment, therapy, medication and oodles of stays in hospital, everyone in my family seems to agree that he is really his own self (and the self we came to know and love since childhood) when he sticks to taking his medication. When he stops his medicine, as he's done many times, he turns into someone not even he knows and inevitably winds up sleeping in the streets and in the hospital.

So you should stop and think for a moment about the possible consequences on the mentally ill when you say such things about the "majority of health employees".

Anyway, that's my fucking story. Or rather, his story, briefly told by me.

There are tons of health employees who would even risk some "profit" in order to help their patients.

While what you say is partially true, I'm much more concerned with capitalism producing conditions which cause or exacerbate illnesses, which happens with millions of people around the world.

Im closing this, as i find it unlogical and wrong, and will end with saying that the title is absolutely correct, if people have health problems, this is definitely the last place they should be referred to, and see a professional is the best thing to do.
