If you do, can you explain why. Security?
If you don't , what are your reasons against it? Ideological? Safety?
I personally don't have it, kinda hope it stays that way.
Oh and the grandpa's old rusty rifle does not count

Same as Ass Tea Jay, shitty local weapons laws.
Not only guns are illegal here, but also blades, tasers and pepper spray.
Which is a bit of a bummer considering I partake in an armed martial art.

Where are you from if I may ask?
So are those laws the reasons that stop you from getting some, or do you consider your martial arts enough to defend yourself?

Fire arms are proscribed in my family home. We argue so much that having weapons in the vicinity would be a tragic mistake. As happened in 1907, when my grandfather, Juan Baustista Caceres, killed his cousin Eldimiro of a shot between the eyes for calling his prize fighting rooster a "fairy cock mother"!
At the time it seemed funny but they soon realized the folly of killing kin when they discovered that Eldimiro had died intestate, leaving the disposition of an enormous fortune he had made in frog farming to his wife, Tertulia Mendez, who sold the enterprise to one of our foreign competitors, the United Frog Company. The rest is history.
Nowadays, in honor of our late, grand Cousin Eldimiro and in obedience to the ban, we use only large domestic appliances to settle our disagreements. It's the more economical and civilized way to go. I recommend it.

I'm in a similar boat to Ass and Ulster Socialist, gun laws here are complete fucking bollocks. I own a plank with a nail in it and am considering learning Ninjuitsu or a similar "end the fucking fight" type martial art.

No, but I would like to get one. I do not agree with the liberals on gun control and believe that you should be able to defend yourself. I also think knife laws should be relaxed - the claim that "you're more likely to be killed by a knife if you carry one" is complete nonsense as the government have no idea how many people actually do carry knives. It's a sad state of affairs when the only people in society that can get away with being armed are the police, and most of us end up being completely helpless.

Agreed, that's just such a stupid idea .. what in the world makes it more probable to get hurt if you carry a weapon? Unless you plan to you use it in OFFSENSE rather then defense.
The way I see it, and street tells me so, you need to figure out a way to defend yourself from an attack. Cause shit happens at random, even in the middle of the day.
The downside of weapons is the risk that you might very easily kill your attacker. And proving that it was self defense ain't such an easy task.
Then again, I believe that any frustrated jerk will quickly calm down once you point a gun between his eyes.
But what if you fire? hm... carry an empty gun?
On the other hand, martial arts sound interesting, but it only helps if you train hard as a pro. A few hours of Krav Maga or similar will just make you look stupid. Don't bout you guys, but capitalism squeezws the life out of me, I barely have time to piss, how am I gonna find time to train martial arts? :(

I own a couple martial arts weapons, katana, oar, and a bow staff, which I learned how to use in classes I used to take, but I really don't bring these anywhere with me since I had to stop taking the classes. I keep a metal pipe, which used to be holding up the flag in my photo, in my car, and tend to bring a knife of some kind or another around with me for self defense, plenty of other ass holes out there with knives, dislike being caught by one without one of my own. As for a gun... I have given the issue thought.
Guns would serve no purpose in a Marxist society, and destabilized the community my family formerly lived in greatly, however I plan on getting a weapon in the future self defense.

I would love to have firearms, mainly because I'm a paranoid Stalinist and think that they would definitely be helpful for self-defence but here in Germany they are totally illegal, even butterfly knives and slings with an armrest are forbidden.
And thanks to recent series of people running amok with guns these laws are very likely to get tightened even further...

Nope. I'm not even sure what the MA gun laws are. It depends where I lived if I was to consider getting one.

Yes, I do. And for all 3 purposes that I feel are legit:
1. Hunting
2. Home defense
3. SHTF
I personally own a 7.62x39 Saiga (AK) and a Mossberg 500 12 gauge. My dad has about a dozen different long guns (including an M1 Garand, a Mauser K98, and a Lee Enfield .303), and altogether, I believe I am inheriting between 20 and 30 assorted firearms (rifles, shotguns and handguns.)
I've been shooting since I was 5, and taught firearms safety since basically out of the womb, since my dad knows that knowledge is the best safety a weapon can have. I've been hunting since age 12, which is legally the earliest you can in NY. Also, I've been raised in the ways of "the people shouldn't fear the government, the government should fear the people!" I've taken my hunting skills and fighting skills and have trained myself in the art of the tactical carbine.
If SHTF, FIND ME! I'll help arm our masses! :)

I'm glad theres a lack of guns in the UK because it pisses off and reduces the amount of Guevara kiddies.
There should be laws which allow guns here just to piss you off. :tt2: Mind you, there already are a lot of guns in the UK, it's just if you're a criminal it's easy to get one, even if you can be caught fairly easily, but hey it's worth leaving criminals armed if we can keep traditional moralistic laws in place (that's a no to the OP).

The british occupied north of Ireland.

It's not even about owning the weapons to defend myself, as a japanophile i love to collect swords, fake training weapons etc.
Also makes a handy instrument for persuading burglars to leave i suppose. I own an imitation katana but its about as sharp as a butter knife and purely for display purposes.
I would buy more if it werent for our crappy laws.

Yeah and also discourages the workers to physically rise against the police and army who are both legally armed.

1. Sarcasm 'what it is and how to recognise it'.
2. Well fucking Duh Ulster I would have never thought of that. However, the real question is that it is not weapons that discourage worker's to rise up, compared with divide-and-rule capitalism and a class conscious proletariat. There should be absolutely no priorities put about the socialist response to armed populaces at a time where there are more important goals to be fighting for. So are you suggesting this should be a principled aim, or that the majority of workers are in a position right now to directly challenge the state?
Maybe thats something for the technate to ponder!

Might be purchasing a Mosin-Nagant this Friday. Anybody else got one? Recommend it?
I might just continue saving for an SKS, but I don't know. Suggestions are welcomed.

I own a few different types of blades, ranging from a Machete to a pen with a knife inside it that ejects and is replaceable.
If the crime rates keep going up, in the future I may just get a gun.

In northen irealand you can receive a gun license on grounds of self defense. Raising a kid near a gang of loyalists may be a good enough reason.

Also any who pisses themselves with glee over the lack of guns over the UK and the British goverment's hatred of self defense probably fails to see that the lack of firearms and strict self defense laws increases reliance in working class communities on the police to deal with gangs and various other scumbags.

I intend getting a 20 gauge shotgun for hunting of bourgeoisie hunters. I saw one for €100 over in Galway, advertised as good for hunting vermin. :D

you have to be a retired cop or squaddie.
But the govt wants to revoke even their licences cause the troubles are supposedly 'over'. Ha.

Stay away from Moist Nuggets. Save up for an SKS. If you wanna save a bit more, I'd say go for a Saiga (Sporterized AK clone). I unsporterized mine for the most part, and I'm ordering a red dot sight tomorrow. Saiga and SKS ammo (7.62x39) is relatively cheap and easy to find.
But ya, I hate Mosins. I've shot 6 of them, and they've all been horrible accuracy and the owners always told me how it sucked finding ammo. 4 of the ones I fired had completely FUBAR'd barrells, and the other 2 just sucked based on the fact that they were Mosins.

I'd suggest a 12 gauge, personally. You can always find lighter load shells for smaller stuff.

I do not own any firearms. Where I live legally owning firearms means you would have to jump through a lot of flaming hoops. The authorities would also have the right to inspect your home at any time.
I feel strongly about revolutionary anarchists being armed, though.
Illegally, obtaining a handgun is probably pretty easy. That's if you know how to contact these people..
The people are not allowed own "military style rifles".
The ultimate scenario would be having an assault rifle and a handgun (both fairly durable) hidden away.. along with plenty of ammunition.
You never know what the future has in store for you.

AK and a 12 gauge here. I'd like to have a handgun, and I can get one if the money situation allowed it. It is not necessary for me though.
