Come on people....it was only a friendly, doesnt mean anything. I will admit though that the club is in big turmoil untill they finally sell the club get a new manager. 6-1 is still a very bad result though, especially against a team like LO. 3-0 and no-one would have made much of it. Saying that, was it a first team or just a youth side playing?

hardly the kids:

Newcastle United
Tim Krul, Habib Beye, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Jonas Gutierrez, Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan, Alan Smith (c), Damien Duff, Obafemi Martins.

Subs

Fraser Forster, Danny Guthrie, Xisco, Geremi, Andy Carroll, Kazenga LuaLua, Tamas Kadar, Ben Tozer, Ryan Donaldson, Darren Lough, Wesley Ngo Baheng

Saying that, I have family that are NU fans, and am going to see them soon at a wedding. This will be fun as an AVFC fan, who after years of getting ribbed for never beating them, actually put the nail in the coffin to relegate them.

Aye but did you see how Orient played? They were absolutely outstanding. The fact that Newcastle fielded an almost full-strength squad, and its two weeks before the Championship kicks off, should raise alarm bells for Toon fans.

Bandito
26th July 2009, 20:57
It should raise alarm bells for Mike Ashley, Llambias, and other pricks who got NUFC to this situation. When you have shitload of players who are doing nothing on the pitch, and still get paid 50 000, 60 000 and more per week, you have to start wondering. When Bobby Robson was in charge, NUFC had good players and good youngsters=good results. And he was sacked and disgraced because of the "unsatisfactory 5th place in the table".
Egoism and money grabbing, plus interventions from people who know about football as much as I know about Lichtenstein's rain amount, made Newcastle United a shadow of what this club was.

But I fear that this is not the end of the story. Newcastle can sink even deeper in this pile of shit that they are in right now.

For all their backroom shenanigans, Ashley and Shepherd have poured a lot of money into the club. The fundamental problem is that their managers have been consistently buying shit players at inflated rates for several years now. Look at that team sheet above - its embarrassing

Come to think of it, do Newcastle even have a full time manager in place for the new season?

Did you know that the championship has the fourth largest match day attendances out of all europes leagues. The premiership has the first.

Newcastle lost the best player in the worst season, Bassong, who is off to Tottenham.
Also, Beye, Viduka, Edgar, Owen and Martins left. Lovenkrands will probably not extend his contract.

Newcastle is officially the only club that haven't bought in a single player.

I was watchig the whole game and I'm very pleased about the result.
Since Newcastle lost eight players, key players, don't have a manager, don't have an owner, nobody knows what is going on, nobody knows who will stay, Newcastle are the only professional club in England that haven't bought a single player, disasterous friendlies....this is a good result.

Plus, this was the first game I've seen that Alan Smith was fucking magnificent since he arrived in NUFC. He was the captain, which, however, I think it is a comedy. Steven Taylor, for example, deserves the skipper position far more.

AND A QUESTION FOR ALL WHO WATCHED THE GAME:

Mike Ashley will probably accept Barry Moat bid for the club, BUT he wouldn't be the fat **** he is if he didn't do something more.
Moat won't pay Ashley 100 million for the club, and he is aware that no one will, so what does he do? Announces complete sale two weeks before the transfer window closes, and with just one loan(until January) as a new player for NUFC. Duff will join Fulham for 4 million, Jonas is also on his way out, but the thing that bothered me most is that he will sell Steven Taylor, the only player in the club that plays with spirit, for a bargain of 7-8 million pounds(Portsmouth, Liverpool, and Everton are interested, who wouldn't?)
So the bourgeois prick will get his 100 million the other way. Nice job, Mike.

Apparently, Toon Army are raising money to buy off the club from this fat prick.
I know there were insinuations that this could happen, I'm just really unsure about the idea getting formal. That would mean a whole lot if this happened, but there are stuff that I don't know what way could function if the "people" owned the club.
Still, let's see what happens.
Story here:

Trust launches bid to buy Magpies

Newcastle United Supporters' Trust have formally launched plans to raise funds to buy the club from owner Mike Ashley.
The 'Yes We Can' campaign hopes to draw on support from fans, business and financial institutions with a view to taking ownership of the club.
"The idea is based on fans investing in the club," said spokesman Mark Jensen.
"Supporters will be asked to pledge 10% of their investment into this account and guaranteed that the money will be returned if the bid fails."
Barcelona's system of membership-owning 'socis' is the inspiration behind the bid, which the trust believes is a viable alternative to the current regime, or any other potential investors.
"It is clear that we have no knight in shining armour to end the charade at St James' Park," added Jensen. "So we must look at how we can do this ourselves.

"The club is a fantastic investment if run properly. We aim to attract the type of investors who will seek to bring back the values of integrity and honesty.
"We've been in discussions with serious people in the city and beyond and they have thrown down the gauntlet to supporters to lead the charge.
"We've been obsessed by protest but this is the ultimate protest."
Ashley, who currently owns Newcastle United, recently took the club off the market after a string of potential investors withdrew their bids.
Supporters remain unhappy with the current ownership at St James' Park, to which Ashley last week added the prefix of his sports retail company to in order to showcase interest in the naming rights of their ground.

There is some disturbing news being reported by George Caulkin in the Times today, that Steven Talor has suffered a broken jaw on Sunday afternoon, during training at Newcastle’s Benton training grounds.
Unfortunately Caulkin is probably the best Newcastle reporter around, and is usually spot on with what he writes.
The incident is said to involve Andy Carroll, Steven’s Newcastle United team-mate, and there is some hint that there may have been a confrontation between the two players, but nothing official as yet from the Newcastle club.
Steven Taylor has only recently had a brace removed from his knee, after suffering ligament damage, and Taylor was touch and go whether he would make it before the end of the season, but it looks like his season is over, if reports are to be believed.
But Newcastle have so far not issued any statement on the matter, and that’s somewhat understandable, given the team has an important game tonight at Doncaster Rovers, and promotion is still not guaranteed.
But as seen in our comments section this morning, rumors are rampant on Tyneside that the broken jaw may have been caused by a confrontation between the two players.
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
This is now a huge test of Chris Hughton’s management abilities, as the very last thing he wants is any distraction from the important game tonight at Doncaster.
It ia also rumored that Carroll has damaged his hand and may not play tonight at the Keepmoat Stadium – oh no!
This may be about the worst thing that could have happened at Newcastle, if indeed these rampant rumors are true.
Let’s hope for the best – for the sake of our club – but we need 3 points tonight, that’s the most important thing.
I thought these things were a thing of the past at Newcastle – I hoped these things were a thing of the past at Newcastle.

Injured Dan Gosling, 35-year old Sol Campbell, non-Prem-proven Perch

Weak if you ask me. Hunt after Kevin-Prince Boateng ended up with the player joining AC Milan, and the hunt after Ben Arfa seems more ridiculous by the day. The guy landed in Newcastle without Marseille's permission, refuse to train there, than Marseille accepted the Werder Bremen bid, and now Milan and Arsenal joined the race. Typical Newcastle.

On the other hand, Newcy kept the best players from last season like Jonas, Nolan and Carroll.

Carroll is the new number 9 (after Shearer, only Oba Martins wore the big nine)

The new captain is Kevin Nolan, which is a brilliant thing in my opinion.

Think it depends on the rest of the pack. If the general quality is as poor as last season then Newcastle have a chance. Otherwise... well, this team is probably worse than the one they went down with last time

True, but this team has something the team which Newcastle went down with didn't have. And that is passion.

6- fucking- 0 against Villa.

Nolan never looked better, an now I have to disagree with you that Bolton sold him at the right time. If he continues to play like this, he should be back in the Albion shirt without a doubt.
Andy Carroll. The new holder of the No9. Three goals in the first game on SJP. 21 years of age. The lad has brilliant future.

Anyway, craziest start of the Prem that I remember...

And, of course, some more of Andrew Carroll's personality cult. :)

I wasn't able to see the damn game last night. It was just too late (MOTD2 is past midnight, since we live in GMT+1), since I had to be up ridiculously early today. I really regret missing it now.

Ha!
I'm in US at the moment, so I had to wake up at 4:30am to watch the game before work. It would be realy stupid if Newcastle lost or if I was a Villa fan. ;)

I really don't like Newcastle; however, I'm a fan of Wigan, so I got my calender marked for their game in October! :D

Jose Enrique.

Probably the only remaining ordinary guy in this money grabbing machine they call football. This album is from his Twitter, and it shows what a great and simple guy he is really. In addition, his English is priceless. So freaking cute. :)
