What did they make you think twice about?

I read "Farewell to Arms" years ago, but I was thinking of revisiting Hemingway. I love the populist/journalism style of a lot of the writers from Hemingway's era. When I first read books of that era and that style, I thought they were too plain, but now I really like how direct it is and how the concrete images really stick with you.

I'm reading Crime and Punishment as we speak (I'm up to part 6, chapter 2) - almost finished!

Crime and Punishment was a strange book. It tries to be vaguely existential and was well-written and all, but I found it to actually be in the end just a glorified Russian hagiography.

Grave digger,

Everybody has to think twice about life, its existence, the good and evil sides fed upon our brains after reading above mentioned books and specially that of Dostovsky, Niestze and sartre.. Crime and Punishment, Age of reason and Thus spake zarathustra deals with psychological and materialistic condition of a mans fate in life .. where as hemmingway is of natural type dealing mostly practical aspects of life .. farewell to the arms was an anti war as the book went along but i specially like his old man and the sea.. never read such a strong story with just a single character in it living to survive on his own accounts even if one loves other beings created by nature... but cant have more words cause this Niestze is currently blowing my brains off...
