All of you guys, stop what you're doing and find some shit from the Ethiopians. They are the most underrated reggae band ever.
Aside from that:
Alton Ellis
The Heptones
Derrick Morgan
Desmond Dekker
The Mighty Diamonds
Johnny Clarke
Johnny Osbourne
Big Youth
Kind Tubby
Lee Perry
The Upsetters
The Abbisynians (sp?)

Chaka Demus & Pliers (Murder She wrote)

If you enjoy Capleton and Sizzla, you should definitely check out "Street Knowledge," the new CD from Anthony B. Outstanding.

I'll kill you, Umoja.
That Rasta-Reggea is for OG Rastas and Suburban white kids who smoke weed.....
What a horrible thing to say; 75% of the music I listen to is "rasta reggae", and I'm neither and Original Gangster rasta, nor a Suburban kid.

You fuckers depress me so much.
First off, stop listing UB40. Like them if you must, but don't try to claim that watered down SHIT is reggae.
Umoja, Your comments are offending me and pissing me off. Did you actually just try to claim that I'm either a OG rasta or a suburban white kid if I listen to reggae ? Are you dead fucking serious ? Nice generalization, here's one for you, anyone that listens to Hip Hop is either a black thugged out murdering gangster or a white suburban kid. Not so fun anymore, is it ?
Dancehall is not reggae it's DANCEHALL. They don't use instruments, they use drum machines and synthasizers. THey rap, they don't sing. I honestly don't understand how people mistake that for reggae. Being a jamaican muscian doesn't automatically mean you're a reggae artist.
The Specials were second wave ska, close to reggae, but not close enough.

Anyone that claims that dancehall is not reggae needs to educate themselves about Jamaican music.
The ignorance displayed on this board is astounding.

Urban Rubble, I said Roots Reggea which I generally take to mean Rasta Reggea.

Reggaetrain, trust me, I know all about Jamaican music. I didn't really mean dancehall wasn't reggae, of course it's a form of reggae but to say it's "real" reggae wouldn't be true. I'm not sure if that "ignorant" comment was directed at me, but if it was I'd be glad to answer any question you can quiz me on about Jamaican music.
Umoja, I understand what you meant, my comments still stand.

Okay then UR, I'm not gonna make this into a big fight, and I'll say "You are an exception to the stupid Umoja rule of Reggae".
Urban Rubble

I wasn't trying to make it a big fight, I just really hate generalizations, really bad. Anyway, I think your rule is actually pretty wrong.
I like:
Pericos
Gondwana
Los Cafres
