Massive corporations are at fault for the whole mess we are in because.

A. the average CEO makes 262 times more than the average worker.

B. the average CEO has benefits beffitting a king, with healthcare provided for their family, "bankable" sick days.

C. "outsourcing" labour, to poorer countries, but not paying them an equal percentage to the profit of what they produce

D. massive wealth to the upper echelons of society, creating a backlash of "inflation" where money is worth less to us than it actually is (caused by "profiteering")

E. "the big 3" begging for cash bailouts from the governments of America and Canada, (amongst others) and then paying their CEO's and Presidents a hefty bonus, essentially saying "way to go assholes! you're still making more than everyone else on earth!"

F. "Wal-mart" monopolizing the retail industry, with government sanctioned "subsidies" on goods, making it harder and harder for the individual shop owner to live, let alone turn a profit.

Everyone, read this and add (alphabeticly) starting with "G"

if we get to "Z" start with "Aa Ab Ac etc.

Why?

Why you ask? because, all these things made it harder and harder for everyday people to buy things, and all these people were getting HUGE amounts of money for "what they do" while employee's merely got what is required to be given to them by law.

Everything culminated in a mass budget crisis, the companies are screaming at unions, saying that they are getting to much money, but the CEO... he gets a hefty bonus either way.

And what are we supposed to get out of listing stuff like this? I just don't see the point in how this is productive at all.

i started this thread to simply list the reasons why they are at fault, and to show that a life without corporations is something that we should all hope for, and strive for.

Perhaps this would be better in chit-chat?

If we look at the situation, we can rather blame it on Capitalism. Economic crashes are a feature of Capitalism, just as Corporations are. Blame the illness, not the symptoms.

Yes but we all know that, so there is no reason to do this.

Blaming the inherent ills of the system on the "bad" behavior of its actors is the realm of liberal analysis, not that of socialists.

We can certainly explain how corporations are at fault for the mess, but it does not do to leave it at that. Such an analysis must be accompanied by an understanding of the fundamental dynamics of the system under which they operate, and how it enables these corporations to get away with what they do, and how the rest of us get fucked over while they profit.

Comrade Fishoutofwater --

I hate to say this but your list isn't terribly exhaustive, and it omits the biggest technical reason for the financial crisis: the ability of the creditor class to control investment -- which leads to all sorts of profitable but socially destructive and wasteful activities. Of course, that alone is an indictment of capitalism as a system, not simply as a group of market participants.
