Hello,

I'm called Eve. I'm from Portland, OR. I self-identify as a radical anarcha-feminist. I used to identify as an anarcho-syndicalist, but most of the ones I encountered turned out to be sexist pricks, so I changed my political tagline.

I'm from Portland, OR. There are a lot of radicals here, but there's an equal number of Big A Hipster kids, who are really into punk rock and drinking Pabst (which is the worst beer on earth, it's like water with an alcohol content).

I got into radical politics because it made sense.

Love & Solidarity,
Eve

I'm probably one of the most prominent anarcho-syndicalists on the board, what excact cases of sexism are you reffering too?

Welcome to the boards. I'm an anarcho-syndicalist and I'd also thus hold that I am naturally a feminist by extention of my anarchist politics, so as such I too am an anarcha-feminist, or more a feminist due to anarchism. What examples of sexism did you encounter from anarcho-syndicalists?

Well, one of them raped me. That was pretty severe. I take a pretty in your face approach to being a survivor, because so much silence is cast around the issue.

Laundry List of Grievences
1.) They don't trust women's experiences. When they're called out on sexism, they tell us we're wrong. That it's something else. That our feelings of being oppressed and silenced are invalid.
2.) They never, ever, ever under any circumstances admit that they're wrong or that they don't have the information. When they're called out on providing false information, they just squirm and make excuses.
3.) They interrupt women. All the time. All the fucking time.
4.) They tell us how to organize. If our organizing methods are different from theirs, theirs is inherently better. They just can't fathom that women would put just as much thought and consideration into our organizing tactics as they would.
5.) If we're more experienced than they are, they still act like they know better.
6.) They place us in roles that are "fit for women's work" like taking the fucking notes. Just because our handwriting is better than yours doesn't mean you get to make us your goddamn secretary.
7.) They don't share access to resources and information with other fellow organizers that are women.
8.) They use their aggression, body language, and strength to assert subtle but clear threats of violence that ring out loud and clear to those of us who have been raised under the threat of rape and raised fist.
9.) If you really, really challenge them, and begin to be effective, they retaliate.

Most of the time, they're egotistical, arrogant, infuriating, manipulative, coercive, oppressive, alpha male, hyper masculine, aggressive jackasses.

The retaliation imposed upon me for being too effective at calling my partner out on his shit was that he raped me. That's the real cost of confronting patriarchy. I wish that more men realized the true cost of confronting sexism. Men don't get raped for calling out their comrades. Women do.

"Sexist pricks" is a sexist term.

Right. Because the institution of sexism doesn't exist with the backing of a culture, a economic system, a government and a religion behind it. And when I say sexist prick, I've got the entire culture behind me. I've got a system with rules, laws, histories and a prison system to protect me. I wield the power of all that privilege when I say sexist prick. Therefore, I must be engaging in reverse sexism.

Because that's all true, right? Because the Supreme Court Judge would take my side of the story when it came down to it.

Don't play that game.

To tell you something, I turned into a Leninist because many anarchists I know cannot deal with criticism, they may said they do, but in reality they sidestepping or taunting. At I was shocked about your organization sexism, it may have to do with being "freedom, direct democracy, fuck the central rule, let us be free" association.

Relax. It's just a joke intended to illustrate that no matter how earnest we are in our views, sexis[t], racis[t] and all manner of unsound, unedifying language has a nasty habit of creeping into our discourse. I am no exception, mind you.

Now, now, don't tell lies here, comrade! I'm a bit of a rabid anti-feminist?! A bit?! Excuse me, but I'm known for my unbearable macho attitude, my fanatic misogynism and my unbelievable extreme chauvinist views! :p

Holy shit, I'm sure you're not helped through pathetic solicitousness but what the hell, and this piece of **** dares to call himself a leftist?! You have my deepest sympathy!

Some of the things you described are things I would expect from stormfront members and conservatives but definitely not from leftists. I guess you find this article and video interesting: http://www.revleft.com/vb/sexist-oppression-within-t111455/index.html

I was just being snarky. For sake of arguement, it is accurate to call someone a sexist prick. It is, in fact, the phallus that bestows upon men such priviledge and power in our culture. Therefore, remarking on a mans genitals in accordance to his sexism is stating that the reason he's sexist is because the culture he was grown in has told him since the beginning of time that his penis makes him a more important figure. It's really quiet logical. The same arguement could be made for the word *****, just in reverse. One, however, is oppressive whereas the other classifies one as the oppressor.

And I reserve the right to lash out against my oppressor in any way I see fit, including shameless name calling and violence. Just as the worker raises wrench to machine, just as disenfranchised youth raise brick to police brutality, I shall use an means nessisary to establish womens rightful places as equals.

That means you, Rjevan. :)

Holy shit:(

There used to be a thing in my town where women came up and spoke about sexual assault, sexual harassment, etc. that they have faced. I don't know if it's still around (I only just heard that it ever existed about a week ago).

Welcome to the forums, btw!

Hey. I'd call myself an anarchist-communist, or just plain anarchist, but I try not to be a sexist prick. Anarchists that don't oppose patriarchy fail at being anarchists anyway, pretty much by definition.
