Dear lord, I HATE people that only speak in weird philosobabble. Like, do these people actually believe the things they say? It sounds like complete nonsense to everyone but themselves.

I have a cousin and a friend who are all into new age spirituality and philosophy and shit, but none of what they say makes a lick of sense. All they discuss is stupid crap like "how do we know for sure we exist?" or "there is no one way to reach enlightenment," insert Buddha quote, blah blah blah. I just shake my head and tone out their conversation.

That's why I don't talk about politics with my friends. They're either completely clueless or are too wrapped up in pseudo-philosophical bullshit to know or care. For all they know, we're in the state we're in because humanity hasn't found enlightenment or we just haven't learned to love one another. Or we just don't listen to enough Beatles or Led Zeppelin music.

In any case, I can't wait for 2012 to come around, so people can shut up about it, at least until the next ominous date comes around. Seriously, why do people even pay so much attention to it? I believe the whole thing actually comes from a misunderstanding of the Mayan calendar, which had centuries-long cycles or periods or something like that. As far as I know the Mayans did not actually believe that the world would end in what we call the year 2012, just that a particular "age" would end. Of course New Age hippie types, conspiracy wackos and apocalypticists as well as others have all read their own prejudices into that.
