So who got a hold of their new album? A friend of mine at a music store made me listen to St-Anger and I pretty much enjoyed it..

They were starting to go soft and muchy over the past few years, nothing like true Ride the Lightning or Black Album stuff... those were fucking amazing.

Anyways, so from what I've had the chance to listen to so far from the new album, I think they're coming back on the Heavy Metal scene for good this time.
What do you think?

Download their song, "Orion".

Also download 'Fade to Black'
'One'
'Welcome home (sanitarium)'

And some of the more political songs are:
'Disposable heroes'
and
'Don't tread on me'

Yeah that song they did with Ja Rule was embarrassing to say the least, and the next person who says that their last 3 albums were bad gets a kick right square to the nuts.

Bastards got me banned from Napster...

I might buy it, or download it out of spite, but they've been going downhill for awhile and I really don't see the point.

They better not be around for much longer, otherwise they will be doing a Hulk Hogan type thing where they go way past their used by date

Their last three albums were bad.

But, seriously, the song St-Anger is pretty good. More raw than their other new stuff which is good.

Ian? Napster? Isn't it dead already? Use kazaalite, much better, you'll probably find the album online way before it's out on the market too.

I hate Metallica. They cry like little *****es when people download their shitty music, they should be thanking the stars that people even listen to this generic metal.

One time I got free tickets to thier show and it was horrible. James Hetfeild yelling out cheesy patriotic shit like "YA, this is how we rock it America, LAND OF THE FREE !! WOOOO!!". Pure meathead crap.

Sorry to offend anyone who likes them, they just make me mad.

Like I said I listened to one track, and it wasn't that bad, COMPARED to the rest of the 'post-black album' shit they've made.

"YA, this is how we rock it America, LAND OF THE FREE !! WOOOO!!".

LOOOL you serious??? that is some truly messed up shit man. i miss the old them. i guess they're gone forever.

I think St anger sounded like likin park or other nu metal acts.

I mean the par were they repeat "you flush It out" that's like "I'm about to brake"

I found this pretty nice of Lars to say:

Metallica are particularly unhappy about certain actions the U.S. military has taken in Iraq.

Not the ones that resulted in the collapse of Saddam Hussein's empire — the ones in which the band's music was played to extract information from terrified Iraqi prisoners who'd never been exposed to heavy metal.

Speaking to the press in Europe, drummer Lars Ulrich told the World Entertainment News Network that he strongly objects to the use of "Enter Sandman" as a device of coercion. "I feel horrible about this," he said. "No one in Iraq has ever done anything to hurt me, and I don't understand why we have to be implicated in that bullshit."

Metallica is my favorite band. Urban Rubble, why do you think their music is generic? Personally, I do not think anyone sounds quite like them. They have been around for a long time and are influencial, so there are several bands that try to sound like them.

Yey, we could become very good friends.

Serieusly I always found metallica kinda soft.

But their newest album St. Anger (I got m) totally sux ass! It's even softer. The only song in which they stuck a lil bit of attention is St. Anger. The rest totally sux.

Listen to good political metal - Sepultura!

I would recommend Refuse/Resist
The hunt
Propaganda

Actually pretty much everything of them is cool.

I didn't like St Anger, it was a bit of a disappointment. There was maybe a couple of decent songs and that's it. Their old stuff is really great though.

UrbanRubble, You can hate the band but still like their music! I'm not crazy about them personally, actually, I dislike some of the things they've done/said, but I still like the music (again, mostly older stuff)

"Serieusly I always found metallica kinda soft"

CCCP, this might apply to their last couple of albums, but have you heard their first few? and besides, if a song is not heavy, it doesn't meant that it sucks, if you only like heavy music and refuse to accept anything else, then you're closed minded and not a true fan of music. You gotta have an appreciation for all forms of music. Some Genres might not appeal to you as much, but you can still find a song or two that you would like.

Metallica Sucks Ass. They led the fight against Free Music and Music Sharing, and care only about money, not about fans or people in general.

metallica is greedy fascists, not to mention way too old for rock

'Dirty Window' is a good song, especially to play on the drums. I agree that their old stuff is far better, yet St. Anger was a pleasnt suprise compared to other newer stuff. And lars is a great drummer.

Haha...I could be all snooby and pretentious and say something like "Oh, Metallica lost it's spirit after Cliff Burton died", but instead I shall concur witht the rest of you: METALLICA SUCKS ASS. Fucking greedy old cocksuckers!

But I still like the riff on Master of Puppets, though. :cheesy:

Yes, I did hear some of their early work at a friends home and I liked it. But, no I don't think that only heavy music is good music. I also listen to par example Pink Floyd AC/DC Deep Purple Dire Straits Guns n' Roses Lenny Kravitz.

I also like Master of Puppets, Enter the Sandman, For whom the bells toll. Just to name a few softer things of them.

But you've to agree with me that St. Anger album is really bad. The St. Anger song is good tough. But I am listening a lot to Sepultura in this period.

So you can't acuse me of close mindedness.

I like St-anger (song), but he annoys me each time he whines "STANGERRRRR STANGERRRRRRRR WAAAAA"

makes me wanna shoot myself.
The beat is good though...
