Do you remember this guy? He quite big when I was a teenager, and I must admit I sort of liked his songs.
He was sort of a comical figure, but also quite talented, and had a style of his own.
John Paul Larkin (March 13, 1942 – December 3, 1999), better known by his stage name Scatman John (sometimes credited as Scatman internationally), was an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) stuttering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttering) jazz musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz) and poet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poet) who created a unique fusion of scat singing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scat_singing) and house music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_music), best known for his 1994 hit "Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scatman_%28Ski_Ba_Bop_Ba_Dop_Bop%29)". As he liked to say, this was a process of "turning my biggest problem into my biggest asset". He has sold millions of recordings worldwide and was named "Best New Artist" in the Echo Awards in both Japan and Germany. He was a recipient of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Speech-Language-Hearing_Association)'s Annie Glenn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annie_Glenn) Award for outstanding service to the stuttering community and was inducted into the United States National Stuttering Association Hall of Fame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Stuttering_Association_Hall_of_Fame).http ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scatman_John
He died of lung cancer in 1999.

Scatman's World lyrics:
I'm calling out from Scatland
I'm calling out from Scatman's world.
If you wanna break free you better listen to me.
You got to learn how to see in your fantasy.
Everybody's talkin' something very shockin' just to
Keep on blockin' what they're feelin' inside but
Listen to me brother, you just keep on walkin' 'cause
You and me and sister ain't got nothin' to hide.
Scatman, fat man, black and white and brown man
Tell me 'bout the colour of your soul.
If part of your solution isn't ending the pollution
Then I don't want to hear your stories told.
I want to welcome you to Scatman's world
(Scatting by Scatman John)
I'm calling out from Scatland
I'm calling out from Scatman's world.
If you wanna break free you better listen to me.
You got to learn how to see in your fantasy.
Everybody's born to compete as he chooses
But how can someone win if winning means that someone loses.
I sit and see and wonder what it's like to be in touch.
No wonder all my brothers and my sisters need a crutch.
I want to be a human being not a human doing.
I couldn't keep that pace up if I tried.
The source of my intention really isn't crime prevention
My intention is prevention of the lie (yeah)
Welcome to the Scatman's world
