Are you a closet communist? Why? Why not? Pros and cons? Is it good for the movement to be cautious or loud? National differences?

Please notice regional differences. UK and US comrades must understand that not everywhere communists are hanged on sight. And Citizens of more liberal countries should not demand absolute self sacrifice if it is likely to result in physical injuries. (US?)

Me? I am proud to be a communist, and I will inform others of my political opinion everytime an interesting topic is discussed. I see it as the only way to naturally spread our word, and it must therefore be good for the movement. Sure I get the occasional glare and scold, but I care not fo it is for the good of the movement.

Discuss!

I tend to be rather quiet about it, unless there's a political discussion. Then I espouse communist positions and let everyone else to figure it out.

Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims.

Seriously though, I'm not exactly in the commie closet. Though I tend to shy away from the hammer & sickle forehead tattoos and the like, all of my family and most of my friends know by now. I don't go "Hi, my name is Marlon and I'm a red...", but if you have enough conversation with me politics are bound to come up eventually.

Im afraid that im a closet communist. This is only because im scared that i will loose my job if people at work find out. It isnt so bad because when I talk with people at work we all generally agree with the same things so mabey im not alone. Thing is though, if the managers find out, i think that despite me being a good worker, they will look at me as if im responsible for all the deaths within the former Soviet Union. On that note, there are alot of eastern europeans (polish and slovakian) and though you dont know how they will react, i do not want to offend any of them (they may have had bad experience).

Plus, no one in the uk knows fucking anything about politics as they leave it to the local mps to represent them and make their minds up for them..without actually realising what they are voting for.

Let's just say I'm partially a closet Commie. I hate every minute of it too, but I think for now it's best for me to keep quiet, considering I live in a very Conservative area. I have also heard about the presense of Neo-Nazi groups here too, who knows? However, I am supposed to be moving in a few months to a city for University. I'll probably come out of the closet then in order to try to influence people and work with others who could already be Red. So yea, so far the only people who really know I'm Commie are my friends and probably my mom.

I guess I am as well. I usually use more accepted terms like socialist or collectivist when describing my views. Occasionally anarchist too though even that one gets me weird looks sometimes. But most of the people that are close to me and my friends know anyway.
