View Full Version : Vegan Reich
Just wondering, what does everyone here think of Vegan Reich? They're quickly becoming one of my favorite bands, it's just hard to find alot of their music.

Straight edge, especially when this shit and preachy, are like a rusty screwdriver in the ear only less pleasant.
I just imagine a lot of skeletal vegans snapping their necks headbanging to that :D I heard the lead singer is insane though, he once bit the leaves off the top of a pineapple live on stage!

Fuck them. Homophobes, pro-life, militantly vegan and straight edge, think that everyone should only have sex if it is to procreate, argue over whether cooked food is natural enough, and push all their pathetic and stupid fucking beliefs on everyone else. Fuck them. Don't even attempt to call them leftist or punk, they are not even close to either. There's a reason why you "get shit for reppin'" them.

Wow. Alot of anti-pro choicers here. Pro-choice means (at least I thought so anyway) to have the freedom to choose to have an abortion or not. And now someone's 'fucked up' cause they choose to be against it?
I tried to research them but didn't find much. I saw a few posts from people saying they ARE fascist and homophobic but no real proof, so IDK.
Also, not related to VR but Earth Crisis has been accused of homophobia but it's untrue. http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIVES/2000/012700/music1.html

Read what you just wrote: Pro-choice is for the choice to have an abortion or not, not the choice of being for or against it.
Pro-choice is therefore implicitly pro-abortion. People who are pro-life are against abortion in almost every case.

Well I don't know what word to use to describe my feelings on it. I would agree with abortion in a rape case but not just because someone didn't want a kid.

It doesn't really matter what your individual thoughts are on individual situations. You either feel that women should have access to abortions, or you don't.

According to my calculations, this thread has been derailed enough.

I have to admit back in my brief days as a hardcore kid, they were a guilty secret of mine. But then I decided that the hardcore scene was mostly full of shit. The only people I still associate with are political hardcore kids. Some of whom have what they would call hardline views?* Vegan Reich were so extreme even compared to the most millitant of anarchist bands of the time that they failed to make much impact in their original era. Even bands like Earth Crisis were not quite as millitant in their opinions. Vegan Reich were also very young at the time they recorded a lot of this stuff.
*For the record I am pro choice (though me and my ex chose to keep our baby), a veggie (well mostly fregan but anyways...) and I drink and occasionaly smoke weed. These people accept me as they also except other friends who are even further from their personel views. That said I'm sure their views have matured and mellowed since the mid 90s.

The drummer from fallout boy was in Vegan Reich, that ought to tell you enough about them. They also apparently advocated a "vegan dictatorship", so fuck them.

Pretty sure he was in a band called "racetraitor" not in vegan reich. Racetraitor also wasn't hardline, just vegan straight edge, pete wentz also filled in with racetraitor on occasion, I have their only relase.

They sound kind of like a bunch of idiots after I did some looking into them. I mean, being pro-life is enough for me to stray away from them.
