I'm unsure... although if I recall correctly they reference anarchism, Howard Zinn, and Noam Chomsky in some of their songs.
Subhumans are a great anarcho-punk band.

Angelic Upstarts, Scritti Politti and The Slits.
If you like post-punk I'd recommend Devo and Jihad Jerry as well. Not really Marxist but they say some things worth hearing and Jihad Jerry made great songs against the war in the middle east.
Anarchist: Los Fastidos (which I put first because I think they may be Marxists), Crass, Oi Polloi, Conflict, Reagan Youth, Discharge, Disrupt, The Pist, Skitsystem, Dead Kennedys, MDC, Antisect, Amebix, Rudimentary Peni, Les Amis De La Femme, Exit-Stance, DOA, Vegan Reich, Disorder, A//Political, Subhumans, Choking Victim, Disclose, Disfear, Varukers, Leftover Crack, Icons of Filth, Fleas and Lice, Mouth Sewn Shut, Toxic Narcotic, Electro Hippies, DOOM, Dirt, Zounds, Wolfbrigade, Flux of Pink Indians, Poison Girls, Crisis.
Most of those are crust/d-beat, but I bolded the best one's. I'm out of the punk scene now, btw, though I still go to shows sometimes I don't wear my digs.

Noam Chomsky! Cool!
And I've heard of the Slits, but never actually heard them.
Also, there was a 60's Experimental rock group called the United States of America that was Marxist, i believe?
Malcom McLaren, thier manager, was a Situationist. But still, can anyone answer my question?

The Slits were a feministic group who even made an athem for shoplifting, aptly named Shoplifting.
Also one of the founders of the United States of America was a CPUSA member a few years before forming the band and on their one album there is a song about Che Guevara.
Here is a good song, I guess silver bullet is a anarchist rapper or at least sympathises.

CCCP, an Italian punk and post-punk band that were locally very big in the 1980s. Their first album is called Fedeli Alla Linea ("True to the party line") :)

Where'd everyone get the idea that Dead Kennedys were anarchists? As far as I know, I don't think they've ever called themselves anarchists. Most of the Marxist or leftist bands have already been mentioned, but some that I think are especially good are: The Redskins (not punk, but whatever), Choking Victim, Los Fastidios, Dead Kennedys, MC5, The Clash, Cheap Sex. The Sex Pistols are an amazing band, but I wouldn't listen to them for their political value. Be weary though, a lot of political punk bands are incredibly preachy and boring, e.g. Crass.

Millions of Dead Cops (MDC)
These guys were fucking nuts. One of the best 80s hardcore bands as well.
John Wayne slaughtered our Indian brothers
Burned their villages and raped their mothers
Now he has given them the white man's lord
Live by this, or die by the sword
John Wayne killed a lot of gooks in the war
We don't give a fuck about John anymore
We all heard his tale of blood and gore
Just another pawn for the capitalist whore
John Wayne wore an army uniform
Didn't like us reds and fags that didn't conform
Great white hero had so much nerve
Lived much longer than he deserved

The problem I find with a lot of bands that have good ideologies is that their music kind of sucks. I used to call this "The Crass Dilemma" until hearing their song "Shaved Women." In second case, their ideology sucks too.
I think Propagandhi is okay. They recommend a lot of good leftist websites/books in their CD inserts. I like Rudimentary Peni (but mainly for the Lovecraft references). And some of the Crucifucks and Chumbawamba too.

Seriously check out The Dicks, an early Texas punk band and Marxist.
What's special about them is that their records should satisfy both those who want some political lyrics to shout along to as well as punk rock affeciandos who just want to hear some really cool music.

yeh i would tend to agree with this...you can tell which bands have just been created to spread the ideology rather than for the love of music which is when you end up with shit songs.

I really like their album called "Voice"
Control what comes in to control what comes out.
Absorbing their versions of what life's about.
Spoon fed the world through a filter that caters to money,
and fills us with doubt....
and there's so much more to see than the world through TV.
Numb from the boredom you can't feel the whip across your back.
Always look through the same window of course you'll have the same view.
It's lights, camera, action, take us and tell us what to do.
What to see what to think what to wear what to do with our lives.
Millions of channels to fashion reigns out of our eyes.
To walk back and forth in a box and bind myself with golden chains (is not freedom).

The Eat have a lot of marxist references. Found a song called 'Communist Radio' off an old record and fell in love with them.
Encyclopedia of American Traitors have a lot of communist themes running through their music.
Karma Sutra have an album called "Daydreams of a Production Line Worker" and its pretty good.
The Style Council were a funk/soul group that had an album written during margaret thatcher's tenure. The songs are a reflection of the period and while not overtly marxist, I think the socialist inclinations were sincere.
