The story I am about to tell isn't really news. It happened about ten years ago, but I just found out about it a few days ago. Anyway...
Ozzy Osbourne's first guitarist of his solo career, Randy Rhoads was killed in a plane crash in 1982. After this, Ozzy needed to find a new guitarist. He found 19 year-old Zakk Wylde in 1985. At 19, he was already a master at guitar. Sometime in the 90's, Zakk began to get into Southern Rock. (A type of hillbilly rock from the South, even though Zakk is from New Jersey.) Because of this, Zakk had a Gibson Les Paul made with the Confederate flag painted on it. Now Zakk is by no means a racsist, he was just being proud of the South and its music, even though he is not a Southerner. However, Ozzy didn't like it. One of these reasons being is that a line of lyrics from his song "Crazy Train" says, "Learn how to love and forget how to hate." How would that look with a guitarist playing a guitar with a Confederate flag on it? Therefore, Ozzy sets the guitar on fire! The guitar was saved and still works, but now it has a picture of a burned-up Confederate flag on it from when Ozzy set it on fire. Zakk doesn't really use that guitar anymore, but when he does, it's sure to convey the opposite meaning than what it was originally intended to.
