I'm considering becoming an english teacher in the PRC. Since it's pretty hard to figure out what I can and can't trust when it comes to reading about China, can you guys fill me in on what I should know about actually living there?

Depends where you would be living really. It is a big country with a massive gap in wealth and technology between urban and rural areas.
