No Celebrations For British War Criminals In Ireland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Statement on behalf of the Republican Socialist Youth Movement

The Republican Socialist Youth Movement on hearing a decision by the British army to impose ''British armed forces day'' throughout the north of Ireland, call on all Republican and Socialist organizations and groupings to oppose this demonstration by the British imperialist army.

The Republican Socialist Youth Movement sees this demonstration as another tactic in insuring normalization of British imperialism in the six counties, by the fact that they are trying to impose celebrations of their war criminals throughout an occupied state. We believe this is a tactic in creating the mind set that the north of Ireland is a normal society. There are walls and barriers dividing communities because of increasing sectarian tension, sectarian assaults and killings on a weekly basis, nationalists youths attacking the imperialist police force on a daily basis. This in fact states that the north of Ireland is not a normal society.

Throughout the past 800 years the British government has murdered, raped, robbed and divided the Irish people in their quest to occupy Ireland and to crush any who oppose it. These strategies are also in command today in Iraq and Afghanistan. British illegal occupations of many nations has been opposed from all corners of this earth and it will continue, we in the Republican Socialist Youth Movement will show resistance when the British army on the 27th of June are erecting their flag above Belfast city hall, the Republican Socialist Youth Movement will stand tall and dignified in protest along with Republicans and Socialists, to send a message to ten downing street that resistance to their occupation in Ireland is alive and very well.

The British imperialist army in its criminal cause in occupying Iraq and Afghanistan have recognized its lowering support for its criminal war and have essentially went to dire straits in organizing demonstrations throughout the occupied six counties of Ireland to drain support from working class communities. We in the Republican Socialist Youth Movement say to the working classes of the occupied six counties do not be fooled by the British romantics of war, killing innocent men, woman and children in Iraq and Afghanistan for oil product and money doesn't make you a hero, it makes you a criminal.

A Republican Socialist Youth Movement spokesperson Ian McLoughlin addressed this issue by saying

''On the 27th of June 2009 we are called to remember the British Armed Forces, Surely this in itself staggers belief, to honor an imperial force that has jackbooted across the globe murdering, raping and pillaging as it goes. This is an army that continuously attempts to instill some form of moral integrity in its actions, as it does today, when its continuous presence in Iraq, Afghanistan and Ireland are anything but. It was the ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus who said that "in war truth is the first casualty,'' and how right that still is. The first volley in every war is the battle for hearts and minds and was that not evident in the invasion of Iraq?, Then we were told of the phantom ''weapons of mass destruction" and yet none were forth coming on arrival. All this army needs is pretence, pretence of some form of moral integrity before it occupies a country and the rest as they say is history.

When the British Army launched Operation Banner in August 1969 it was under the moral pretence of protecting the nationalist community from sectarian pogroms. When in reality Operation Banner was really an attack against the forces who served to smash the Sectarian statelet of the north of Ireland and help maintain the sectarian status quo. The British army is, but a tool of the British Empire to occupy and pacify the native population so that the British Empires capitalists and speculators can extract all the mineral wealth and capital so it can bestow on itself. This is the reality of the British army, this is the reality of all Imperial armies. Republicans and Socialists on the 27th of June will stand together to demonstrate and speak the truth and to smash this revisionist interpretation of one of the worlds most repugnant murder machines.’ The British army is a stain on the world's conscience.''

RUC Harassment Of R.S.Y.M Members

On the 27th of June just a hour before a protest on the Springfield road in west Belfast against a sectarian orange order parade
Republican Socialist Youth movement members were stop and searched under section 44, the terrorism act.

While R.S.Y.M members proceeded walking over to a pathway the RUC/PSNI member in an unmarked RUC/PSNI vehicle first drove at a fast pace almost hitting two members of the R.S.Y.M with the vehicle. Then this RUC/PSNI member proceeded by blocking off the pathway, and at the same time RUC/PSNI personnel fully armed preceded over to confront R.S.Y.M members
The individual who was driving the unmarked vehicle then halted the R.S.Y.M members, his comments where ''Stop Now'' then he pointed at his fellow RUC/PSNI members and said ''these lads and I want to have a chat with use lads'' then he asked for details of each R.S.Y.M member, a member of the R.S.Y.M asked on what grounds does he have a right to ask for personal details, he then said ''OK this is a stop and search under section 44 terrorism act 2000 all detainees are to stay on these grounds until RUC/PSNI officers have finished their search and only then you will be free to go.''
The residents of the area came out of their houses and one resident asked if the R.S.Y.M members were all right during this situation, a R.S.Y.M member proceeded to have a conversation with the resident and was manhandled by a RUC/PSNI member who was equipped with an assault rifle and continuously pushed the top of the rifle into a R.S.Y.M members' stomach, during this attack a resident was clearly annoyed and called on RUC/PSNI personal to stop assaulting this young person. Then more harassment followed when taking details and searching of the R.S.Y.M members when RUC/PSNI told one member to ''F**k up'' several times
Also a Irish Republican Socialist Party banner was damaged during this event when RUC/PSNI personal took the banner of a R.S.Y.M member and dragged the banner repeatedly along the ground.
Then eventually all Republican Socialist Youth Movement members where let go when they were told to ''f**k off and go home''

A Republican Socialist Youth Movement spokesperson Connor Barry Hughes commented by saying

'' Through this event this clearly states that this self named ''community police force'' it is not a community police force. It operates to quell resistance to its illegal presence in Ireland, and it operates to inflict British interests in Ireland, the RUC/PSNI operates only in these forms.
The Republican Socialist Youth Movement is not at all afraid of the RUC/PSNI and their cronies, their mission to intimidate our members is not successful and will not be successful, our movement as a whole remains strong and growing.
The Republican Socialist Youth Movement will continue at it has to inflict damages on the RUC/PSNI by exposing them for what they really are, a British sectarian police force with British interests in occupying Ireland.
