Great news!
I have absolutely no other information aside from what I posted in the OP, and the fact that the strike is confirmed. I'm furiously trying to get info and I'll post any as soon as I get it.

News agency of students supporting the civil movement in Iran
Supporters of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, supporters of Mehdi Karrubi, supporters of Mohsen Rezai, and all friends who long for justice,
We have been witnessing the choking of justice through compromises. We have witnessed the bloodshed of the people who were asking for their rights on our streets and roads.
Maybe some people whose feeling of responsibility arises after seeing such scenes cannot get out on the streets to ask for justice.
We want to prove our unity and majority to the rulers who hide their oppression under the pretext of religion.
All workers and government and non-government workers, except workers of hospitals, health centers and fire-fighting agencies, are therefore requested not to attend their jobs on Tuesday, the 2nd of the month of Tir [ed. June 23, 2009].
All students and university workers are also requested to cooperate with us by dismissing universities on this day.
With this, we want to show our protest to the current situation in a peaceful way.
Please send this report to your relatives and those close to you throughout Iran through telephone, email or in person.

I saw in a copypasta about anyone with twitter the following; set your timezone and location to iranian to muddle them as much as possible.
National strike called for Tuesday in Iran

It is now after midnight in Iran - officially Tuesday - and Breaking Tweets can now verify that a national strike has indeed been called for on this day in Iran.
Numerous reliable Twitterers in Iran are now confirming this news. Many are saying that Mir Hossein Mousavi himself called for the strike, however the official Twitter and Facebook pages for Mousavi do not yet mention it. It is possible he communicated this through other means.
Even so, there is a clear organization for this general strike, first rumored several days ago. Trusted Iranian Twitterers said confirmation of the strike would not come until the last possible moment so that it catches the government off guard, and confirmation is now surfacing.
There is a call for all workers, government and non-government, not to show up to work and for Iranians to do no business on Tuesday. Many have called for bazaars to shut down. Some are calling for the strike to last longer than Tuesday to further disrupt the nation’s economy and cripple the current government.
The question is how many will participate and how effective the strike will be, as SMS, cell phone networks, and many Web sites remain offline in various parts of Iran. Mass protests the last few days have undoubtedly been disrupted and there has been confusion due to the lack of communication channels. It is also uncertain how widespread this movement will be outside of Tehran.

Interesting. While the more bourgeois commentator your linked to seems unable to believe that something like this could be called for without Mousavi's approval, it's entirely possible that sections of the uprising, I'm assuming the student's you quoted KC, called this on their own initiative.
Hopefully this strike goes well. If it does, I'm looking forward to the attempts of those who say the working class has no role in this movement to keep defending their position! A succesful mass strike will bring the proletariat into this in a much bigger way than up til now.

Has anybody got amy definate information on this. I have read reports of lots of small shops being closed but there is a difference between a shopkeepers protest and a workers strike.

DevrimIt looks as if this strike action wasn't announced by Mousavi but rather coordinated by various demonstrators on the ground. Because of that, and because of the difficulty of communication in the country, the strike has not spread very far. However, Mousavi has called for the following:
# reports that Bazaars throughout main Iranian cities were mostly closed today for unofficial strike - #Iranelection 11 minutes ago
Mousavi - We will not expend any more energy talking to the Gov in the streets - we must change course #Iranelection breaking news RT RT RT 3 minutes ago
# Mousavi - From Today every morning at 9am WE ALL travel to Tehran Bazaar - whatever reaction from Gov - Bazaar will close #Iranelection RT 1 minute ago
# Mousavi - stop all work and travel with friends & family toward Tehran Bazaar every day at 9am - #Iranelection breaking news 0 minutes ago
EDIT: It appears that I spoke too soon:
RT Strikes were a success across Iran today, even without the final word to begin. Many cities were closed for business #iranelection
I can't confirm this; there is hardly any information coming out of the country at this point. All of my sources have temporarily dried up. I guess it goes to show that even the most informed opinions should be taken with a grain of salt.
