The Guardian has obtained this police footage of Emily Apple and Val Swain being arrested by surveillance officers after asking for their badge numbers at the Kingsnorth climate camp last year. The two women speak to Paul Lewis about their arrest, imprisonment and official complaint

Just saw this on Channel 4. It was FIT and it was bloody disgraceful. They were like holding them down and choking them and stuff and bieng told that they were "obstructing officers". That's got to be the craziest charge ever when they were forbidden to leave and the only thing to set them off was to take a photo of the FIT team.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought that asking policemen for their badge numbers is one of your basic rights. But if you get arrested for this now, I guess I'll think twice before saying anything to the police and if it's just "Could you tell me the way to...?". But I guess I'll get arrested for supicious silence in front of a police officer then.

Our goverments are become more overt in thier actions and more prepared to trample on the rights that they wrote down to try assure us in the past. It's the behavior of a desperate group on the defensive. "Protect capitalism at any cost!" is fast becoming the battle-cry of the UK goverment.

The orders bieng distributed to the police these days reflect the desperate behavior of the goverment. Instead of thier policies of appearing to be community servants and currying favour, we're seeing a different image now. The image of the phallanx of clubswingers is resurging. It's creating a growing opinion of "us and them", when reffering to the priorities of our goverment, which is essentially class consciousness. We should throw fuel onto this fire and others like it. The time for the goverment to police covertly and subtly is bieng put on hold and we should seize this gift before they return back to thier lairs.

To summarise, we have them on the run! They are aware of us. They fear us! They believe that we might just bring them down this time!

Dont talk to the police. Ever. Don't try to complain about your 'rights' until you are actually arrested. It won't work, seriously. Just make pictures of them and keep track of the pigs involved.:ninja:

Yeah, well, it's their laws, they can bend 'em and break 'em. If you annoy cops too much, they will arrest you.

In that kind of situation, whatever 'rights' you may have are basically subject to the discretion of the police. Your most sovereign right is the right to be clubbed.
