Even though its just a fake display of Dick Clark's aging campaign to blind america with a popular desire, Lee Perry won best Reggae (for the umpteenth time, probably). What would have been really cool would have been if he showed up and took it. But he would never come to a shitstem thing like that, and I don't blame him.

Nobody gives a fuck. Listen to Masada. Geniuses like John Zorn don't need grammys to prove how great they are. Deal with it. Your musical tastes are beneath mine.

One of the greatest reply's of all time. Congratulations.

Mike, you piece of shit, Scratch doesn't need that award, he's being making music since before you were born. 5 seconds of The Heart of the Congos is better than the entire works of pieces of shit like Mike Patton and some other guy I can't think of that you like. Not to mention the inovations he pioneered in his small studio. Such as sampling.

I look forward to seeingthis genius perfom live on St. Paddy's day.

True, all true. Where is Scratch performing, by the way, so I can try and get there?

I didn't mean that there was anything wrong with Lee Perry or YOUR musical tastes, Canikickit. I was talking to Rastafari. Geez. No need to take it out on the almighty Patton. Your musical tastes are just fine.

Well, with the exception of calling Mike Patton a piece of shit.

ah, come on Mike, you should know better than taking me seriously at this stage. I love Mike Patton more than life itself. You shouldn't slag Scratch though, he's a genius.

Scratch is playing in the Pod in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Perhaps you've heard of it?

That's cool. Is he with other groups? Seems like Dublin would be an interesting place to find Scratch, but on St. Patrick's Day, I guess it would work. But how many people would go just to see Lee Perry? I mean, I would, but all of my friends who are Irish (older people) are not big on Reggae, if you know what I mean.

Where are you from anyway? How many Irish people do you know and do you think they provide an acurate representation of the status quo in Ireland today?

The Pod, from what I know is quite a small venue, I don't really expect that many, most people don't know who he is.

Scratch has a studio in Dublin, from what I've heard and I know he's been here on a number of occassions. He was in a load of ads for Guinness; saying shit like "Dublin is dubbin' and bubbling" and so on. He quite likes Ireland from what I've heard.

I was not aware of the Dublin Studio thing. But it would seem that Lee Perry, (ex-)rasta to many, would still have a thing against alcohol.
"My Irish Friends" consist of an ex-wexford all-time hurling champion team member/fiddle player-about 35-40, a flute player from Sligo-about 20-25, a historian/concertina player from Sligo-about 60, and several other dozen people-who are all mostly older. I guess what would cause me to say something so biased or stupid, for lack of a better word, was all of their opinions. They all said on individual terms that the E.U. had brought a fair number or black people into the more cosmopolitan areas, which they were not sure was toleratable. Of course, most of these people are all over 40, and age does cause significant mental deterioration when it comes to race relations (or lack thereof).
I should have thought before I said something that dumb, because I know how bad it feels to be branded a racist or whatever because of geography, and I didn't really mean to do so. Everybody assumes that people from Northern Kentucky are just automatically racist, which is about as wrong as possible. I mean, what racist would post fliers calling for a world revolution and equal rights at his college on the threat of being expelled? Most people just about anywhere you go are not perfectly unsegregated, because everyone is the product of this shitty culture we live in.

Sorry that this apology/whatever had to turn into a rant more suited for another board, but thats life I guess

Are you apologising for this?

Don't worry about it - I didn't mean it in an apology seeking type way, I mean you are right; very few people are fans of reggae over here.

It's actually not only the older people who are reacting badly to the expansion of cultures over here - a lot of people I know are the same, it's quite widespread. I guess it's only natural to n extent but it pisses me off a hell of a lot.

That's pretty interesting about those guys you know. The love their hurling down in Wexford. Is his name Doyle, by any chance?

Anyway man, from what I've heard Lee Perry is pretty shit live. Check out this forum: The Dub Discussion Board (http://www.interruptor.ch/cgi-bin/discus/messages/2/437.html?1046208474#POST1981)

Actually, no. I know a Doyle from Wexford, though, lives in Enniscorthy. I also know of a Doyle who was a dirty hurling player from a while back from Tipperary, I think. I know the grandson of this "great" Fiddle Player Junior Crehan. Anyway, tell me how the concert goes.
