An arson attack at the home of a BNP member in Shrewsbury in the run-up to the local elections is being investigated by West Mercia Police.

Alan Cole, 68, had his union flag in his garden set on fire.

The burning flag was in his words "the final act of a three-night campaign of abuse."

Cole who has been a BNP member for five years, said he had had another flag stolen and his "Vote BNP" posters ripped up and that it was not the first time he has been "abused" for his political beliefs.

He stood unsuccessfully for the BNP two years ago in local elections and during the campaign protesters "broke my wing mirrors, made defamatory posters and put swastikas on the windows," he said.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Police are investigating arson after a flag was taken down from the garden of a property in Underdale Road, Shrewsbury, and set alight in the street."

Mr Coles said he has had no trouble since the flag-burning, "apart from Nazi comments in the street", and said he will replace the flag.

Perhaps your neighbours are trying to tell you something Alan....

Good stuff!

Its plainly obvious they are a Fascist Band of Nationalists, so burning a flag is definitely something that'll upset them a tad bit! :D

should have burnt the fuckers house down never mind his flag.:D

Seconded

Once when I got drunk in the town I went to school in, I went to the house of a known BNP member, pissed in the air vent on his car, shouted 'Fascist ****!' and ran away singing the Internationale. Hopefully he got a pleasant aroma for a while afterwards whenever he turned the fans on in his Vauxhall :p

I hear a lot of people who are anti-BNP complaining about such behaviour because it "allows them to play the victim" or whatever else.
Personally, I don't give a shit if they can play the victim. This sends a hard hitting message that we will fight against fascism, and so I give a big thumbs up to those people!

You shouldve shat into the air vent and scored 'fascist ****' in big letters with a key into the paint work on his bonnet.

it always amazes me when members of groups like the BNP complain about being discriminated against.
