"Say it loud, I'm Black and I'm proud"
- James Brown
I mean, which were the circumstances?
PS: Agree with his statement!!!

It was in a song, and I'm a whiteboy. Sorry.

It was the name of one of his albums, released 1968.
James Brown is one of the greatest ever! His songs are so full of energy, I just love them. Classic basslines too. I love tunes like "Super Bad", and "Get Up offa a That Thing", not as keen on the ballads, but they're good too.

James Brown is awesome! He is a rebel and a damn fine musician. Has anyone here heard of Tower of Power? They are pretty good and similar in many ways-One of their songs is called "Diggin' on James Brown"
Oh, and the Wailers did a "Say it Loud" cover, but it wasn't too good. It was ok, though

James Brown at the Apollo is one of the most energetic live albums. It's pretty damn good too.

I'm going through a phase of listening to a lot of James Brown, so I'm glad to see this thread, the man is a GOD!
My favorite song at the moment is "Get up offa that thing", I shake my moneymaker in an embarrassing white-boy fashion whenever I hear that song ;)

"House, is you ready, because we is gonna TEAR YOU DOWN!"
-James Brown at the Apollo
Someday, I will say this before launching into a frenetic rendition of "Sex Machine."
The guys one crazy muthafucka, though. Apparently he became convinced that someone had used his personal toilet and burst into a meeting across the hallway, fully armed, and then went on a long long police chase. He was high out of his mind on crack and other stuff when they caught him.

Yeah, he's a wild one alright. He was arrested just a couple of years ago (how old is he now anyway?) with some coke and weed :)

his music was groundbreakng, everyone knows him, but personally he was an arse. he performed for U$ troops in viet nam, and he supported nixon and endorsed his campaign 4 president.
i really dont like his ballads, but his funk stuff either as james brown or the jb's is nuts. most sampled musician ever. best song ever= talking loud, saying nothing- get it!
