Their fight is much like that of the Zapatistas, in that they are fighting free trade agreements between the U.S, Canada, and Peru, which would sell their land to Multi-national corporations for oil,mineral, and logging without their consent. after 50 some odd days of protesting Peruvian police in collaboration with Alan Garcia(president) and Peru's military have attacked these peaceful protesters which has resulted in dozens of deaths already, the highest estimates from the indigenous leaders is 100 unarmed civilian deaths, stand in solidarity, please send a letter to the Peruvian government or even your own to demand an end and to make sure Alan Garcia understands the world is watching and will not stand by while these atrocities are committed.
