Who here likes industrial? I love groups like Front 242, NIN, KMFDM, Lords Of Acid, Ministry, Depeche Mode, The Revolting Cocks, Underworld, Praga Khan, Meat Beat Manifesto, etc.

But I can't stress enougph how you MUST check out a band called My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. Definitely the most interesting industrial/electrinica bands out there. They appeal to anyone depending on what album you get. If your into the darker, more abbrassive stuff, check out their first three albums ("I See Good Spirits, I See Bad", "Kooler Than Jesus" and "Confessions Of A Knife"), if your into more poppier, Depeche Mode-isn stuff you should check out their next two and their last one ("Sexplosion", "13 Above The Night" and "Reincarnation Of Luna") and if your into acid-techno infused industrial, you should check out "A Crime For All Seasons". If you like all of that kind of stuff, check out any of their albums (except "Hit And Run Holliday", thats just a bunch of stupid disco shit, that has nothing to do with them).

They also have two remix albums ("Dirty Little Secrets" and "Golden Pillz"), a single ("Cuz It's Hot") and a compliation with KMFDM ("Naive / The Days Of Swine And Roses") that are pretty good. Also download "After The Flesh", a song they contributed to the soundtrack of "The Crow". The soundtrack, in general, is good too.

EDIT: Damn smilies.

I like depeche mode and rammstein. And I second elbrujo, the crow soundtrack is awesome. I especially like the cure and RATM and NIN on that one.

Indeed. That was my first taste of MLWTTKK, and of music in general (it was one of the first cd's I got). The Rollin's Band song is pretty sweet too.

NIN KMFDM, ministry, and depeche mode are NOT industrial

NIN is poser industrial, Kmfdm and ministry are guitarish cliche EBM and depeche mode is 80's electronic goth synth pop.

Lords of acid is also EBM but they are awesome. :)

and yeah, thrill kill is an awesome industrial band. I think they named the band after a failed movie they planned on making.

YES!! LAIBACH IS GOD!! einsturzende neubauten is a great industrial band too. along with skinny puppy and throbbing gristle, they were one of the first pioneers of industrial. oh yeah, Gacky tells me that test dept is cool too.

Yeah, they are still planning on making it after like 15 years, lol. Their first album (I See Good Spirits, I See Bad) was supposed to be the soundtrack.

oh maybe just a few. down the spiral or soemthing like that. pretty hate machine, coiled existence. to say that he is not going for industrial is to say that Brittaney spears is NOT trying to make pop music. If he never tried to make industrial then what is he trying to make? after all this post was entitled industrial so el brujo obviously must think that NIN is industrial if not in agreement with me that NIN is poser industrial

ministry is not cliche. they are from Cuba and in my eyes they are brilliant. do you even know what they sing about? ministry is in a catagory all by itself!

"...without a law to the promise land!" - "New Word Order" - Ministry Psalms 69

anyone know where to get a hold of their lyrics?

I doubt that their from cuba all thought I am not familiar with their backround so you may be right.

It's all lame power chords with a synthesizer. I don't care what their lyrics are about (which I think are primitive anyways) their music is unoriginal and uninspiring. I like a few songs of theirs but it is too loopish and there is nothing creative to it instrumentally.

If they want to go for industrial, they need less looping and more metal experimentation. If they are going for heavy metal, they need less loop and more guitar solos (which they have virtually none of)

"without a law to the promise land" wow, what talent. My dog can come up with better lyrics.

I was listening to a ministry song of of the filthpig album in which the lyrics consisted of the following:

"I'm losing control
get the fuck out of my face"

"come on and get up if you've got something to say
I'm gonna fuck you up in my own little way"

their lyrics are primitive and immature. If they are a category all by themselves then they would make up a category which I would call the 4th grade musician category as their lyrics are pathetic.

If you were joking then I feel stupid for bringing this up.

The Downward Spiral you bellend. That is the most unclassifiable music you'll ever hear. Not at all industrial. Pretty Hate Machine was to a degree industrial, but it was more electro-pop to me. NIN have never released anything called Coiled Existence.

If he never tried to make industrial then what is he trying to make?

Maybe he's not trying to fit into your custom-made pigeonholes??

custom mad pidgeonholes??? right ok then man.

all of his shit sounds like poser industrial to me whether he is trying to make electro synth pop, industrial, or custom made pidgeonholes, (I've never heard of this genre btw)

and I am not to familiar with their releases so I don't know where coiled existence came from. I either have mistaken it with another album or it was a VERY big typo.

Like Ive said before, its impossible to really classify any type of music because their all combinations of existing generes. NIN obviously isn't "pure industrial", neither is Thrill Kill Kult (especially from "Sexplosion" on). When I refer to "generes", Im mostly naming what at least has the general "feel" of that type of music. Ministry, also is pretty much a bridge between industrial and grind but the industrial elements are more present than the grind.

Anyhow, Al Jourgensen was born in Cuba (I believe).

uncle alan? I swear I can comprehend about 3/4 of your posts.

and how do you know that it is not you who has the worst ears in music history. How can anyone deny that trent reznor is not making a remote attempt to be industrial. He wears black and combat boots and bangs on metal in concerts and all of his music consists of crappy synth beats with distortion.

btw. You didn't think I was serious on your pidgeonholes phrase, did you?

which of us REALLY needs to think. If you could not have caught the silliness in that, then I truly don't know what is in fact silly anymore.

So does that make The Cure industrial cos they dress in black?? And how exactly does Reznor "bang metal"??

Maybe you should judge them on your music (a necessary condition for that would be you actually listening to them of course, something I can't believe you've done).

oh you'd better believe it my sarcastic friend.

Had I known this was the point you were trying to get across, we could have ended this a long time ago.

I never said that nin was industrial but trent reznor is trying to be industrial. When you see a man who's live performances are an exact dublicate of ogre's, that would be enough to tell me that he is trying to be industrial.

and no, you have never explained how exactly there is a multitude of difference between nin and industrial. So I can't really "deal" with it can I? I am compelled to sit here in agony just wondering as to how in the world nin can be different from industrial. oh no. I am soooo upset now.
