I tried sushi today for the first time, and to my surprise i enjoyed it. Especially with wasabi mustard and soy sauce.
Anyone else like it?

If it isn't excessively cold. I like it if its a little above room temperature.

like any other fish, but with a totally different texture, it feels slightly slippery in the mouth.
Its really nice if you can get over the ''ugh its raw fish'' mentality.
Like i said though, the seasoning helps a lot.

I enjoyed it occasionally. In America, many supermarket actually have them on sale, so it just cost me 5 dollar to get 6 sushi of one of many varieties.

Shit's good, but really freaking expensive. Usually. They sometimes have cheap stuff (usually just California rolls) in stores on sale, and my parents can make decent sushi, which isn't nearly as expensive when done in the home with rice/wasabi/tuna that you buy in the store.

My daughter and I go out for sushi 3 or 4 times a month. We go to a sushi bar where they hand roll it fresh. US, you know the ginger they serve with it? Your suppose to eat some of that too. It will kill any bacteria thats in the fish. We usually get spicy tuna and california rolls with cream cheese

I think Tamago Nigiri is one of the best thing you can get and vastly under rated, i mean ffs SWEET OMLETTE on rice, could you ask for more.

Yeah but that stuff has usually been sitting out. The only way to eat it is fresh.

My main grievance is the temperature, I had some when I was in Brick Lane at like the age of 13... Don't really remember the taste, just that the coldness was kinda weird.
Sushi is great! However too bourgeois!

Love it. Luckily inner Melbourne has a sushi bar on pretty much every street corner. Next to the chocolate cafe. I like spicy tuna too. And I know a place that does Peking duck. *drool*
You'll obviously pay more for premium fish, but sushi doesn't cost much more than any other lunch- and even less if you're just eating say... two hand rolls.
Now someone answer me this- why does the soy sauce always come in a little fish-shaped container. Why? Always!

Sushi is great! Usually, the darker the meat of the fish the less like fish it tastes do to higher fat content. Thus I find its easier for noobies if they start on like...tuna or salmon. First thing you should do when you order your sushi is smell it. It should NOT smell fishy. it should smell clean and fresh. If it smells fishy then chances are its bad sushi.
It takes a little bit of getting used to. The first time you try it I would recommend eating only a small amount. The reason is your body is most likely not used to consuming raw meat. There is a possibility that if you over do it you might get a little ill.
Oh, and like was said before. Temperature can also be key. I personally like my sushi a tiny bit colder than room temp.

I live in Vancouver where there is most likely some sort of Japanese restaurant (Japanese-owned or not) every other block. Most of it is fairly priced for seafood. I think I heard a statistic (can't find a source) that Vancouver has more Japanese/sushi restaurants per capita than anywhere but Japan.
It's fun to go out w/ people who haven't eaten sushi before... they're so puzzled!

The closest I've ever had to that is cold cuts, which are nice.

Very true. Also the pickled ginger is supposed to be eaten inbetween in order to cleanse the palette before having another piece.
Sushi is kinda my veggie deviation, to be honest. I think its awesome, as long as its not that horiffic prepackaged supermarket stuff which is not worth the money. SMOKED SALMON NIGIRI? FUCK OFF!
My favourite is probably sashimi though, even if its not strictly sushi.

It's really popular in NZ (in Auckland at least). However recently I've gotten sick of the dodgy slimy raw fish thats prevalent in a lot of sushi shops. Visiting a slightly nicer restaurant and having the raw tuna rather than raw salmon is a better idea.
The thing to do is mix up the tamari with genereous portions of wasabi and get those motherfuckin chopsticks and dip those motherfuckin sushis in that motherfuckin shit.

I like it enough to eat it but not to buy it over, say, a pasty.

It is good. It reminds me of mussels and oysters. (flavor wise)
I have learned the hard way not to eat it at Chinese buffets thou... lets just say it didn't agree with the egg rolls and roast beef....

I like sushi, but to be honest I don't think the fish itself tastes much at all, neither good or bad. But the wasabi is heavenly, and makes you perfectly thirsty for a good dry lager beer. :)
It's much like with snails really. They are pretty much tasteless (at least in my mouth), but in a garlic soup with a freshly baked baguette they are just great. I like their consistence, but it's the 'accessories' that make it a great dish.

I liked it.
I don't think my was raw fish though it was salmon and crab that I tried I really enjoyed it. The meat was cooked I think it just wasn't hot off the oven or whatever.
I want some sushi now but I don't know where to get it.
I eat some for a demonstration speech in my speech class.

My sister likes sushi, but she only gets the dodgy pre-packaged supermarket stuff. Just like the Japanese traditionally eat it, y'know? ;)

Sushi is my significant other when it comes to food. Whereas others might go out for a beer with friends, I prefer a sushi "bar." More expensive, though.

Beer was made for sushi and vice versa. Nothing like following a really fishy nigiri with a cold dry beer :)
