Hmm, not terribly surprising. I can think of at least two reasons for it:

First, many religious communities discourage contraception, either directly (by saying it's bad), or indirectly by pretending that premarital sex doesn't happen and thus contraception is unnecessary. This may cause a higher incidence of unwanted pregnancy among religious women, prompting more abortions.

Second, a pregnancy out of wedlock is a much greater taboo in religious than non-religious communities. Young pregnant women in religious communities would be under more pressure to hide their pregnancy, and the best way to do that is with an abortion.

I agree and I think it is understood that the first reason is much bigger factor.

The same christians getting abortions may not necessarily be the ones who are anti-choice.

There is a lot of variety in the christian population, and you cannot judge them all by the standards of the vocal extremist minority.
