Since they want to know your favourite guitar player why not bass players.
Mine is Steve Harris of metal band IRON MAIDEN.

It's Jaco Pastorious not JacoB.
By far he was the most amazing electric bass guitar player that ever lived. You need to realize that the shit he pulled was on only FOUR strings!!! None of this active pick up, eight string bullshit wannabe fucking Billy Sheehan shit.
While Jaco is God, Flea from RHCP is probably my favorite for sheer emotion. His basslines are melodic, funky and I've never heard him hit anything close to a bad note.
John Paul Jones is fantastic.
Stanley Clarke is amazing (yeah, I know I just talked shit about eight stringers but that was only to put Jaco on another level).
Les Claypool is good but I wish he'd chill out--he's too busy.
Tim from RATM is average and should not be mentioned on a list of greats. I'm just as good as Tim.
Who said Noel Redding? Just cuz he played with Jimi DOES NOT make him great. Jimi taught him how to play anyway.
Aston Barret was amazing.
James Jamerson (he recorded the majority of Motown's hits) is incredible.
Bootsy, come on, Bootsy Collins is a god.
For Jazz--Charles Mingus, Milt Hinton
The guy from Suicidal Tendencies, who said him? He is actually pretty good, though a bit busy for my taste.
Larry Grahm was amazing too (Sly and the Family Stone).
Don't forget John Pattitucci
