1. He's less pathetic than Stephen Harper.
2. He doesn't appoint religious Nazis who can't tell a crucifix from a swastika to the U.S. Supreme Court.
3. He's marginally less bigoted than his predecessor.
4. He has attempted to have a civil conversation with Hugo Chavez.

He's black. He's got a sort of suave attraction to him, kind of like Denzel Washington or George Clooney. You know, the older, attractive gentleman.

He's from significantly less bourgeois origins
He's still just as much of an imperialist fuck though

Definitely. Stephen Harper is a homophobe and a sexist Pro-lifer. He says he's just a "family man".
He's from significantly less bourgeois origins
I can give him credit for that, but he's still a Capitalist and spent massive amounts of money to get elected.

He's part-black in a country built on black slavery and defined by anti-black racism.
The right wing calls him a socialist which makes socialism all the more attractive to all the people who loathe the crazy right wingers. The right-wing is so unpopular right now that having them cry about socialism is like a reverse-endorsement. It's like having a hated high school teacher tell his class: "I don't like all this Jay-Z rap music I hear kids listening to today -- if you want to be cool like me you should only listen to Huey Luis and the News". Suddenly Jay-Z seems so much cooler to everyone in the class.

Heh. There is truth in this.

But Huey Lewis & The News has crisp clean sound of consumate professionalism.
I think they're undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square" a song so catchy most people probably dont listen to the lyrics, but they should because it's not just about pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends but a personal statement about band itself.

Yeah, even though Obama is no better, I can actually stand to listen to his speaking; instead of listening to a babbling idiot. I guess we can give that to him.

Hey what is wrong with Huey Luis and the News, I rather like their music!
Obama, he is not Bush. That's a big plus. :thumbup1:
Agree with the rest of the above.

His niceness and his popularity is his damnability. It was so much better when everybody hated the US president. All those who condemned Bush adore Obama. Even Hugo was wowed! Before much longer, you'll get Ahmedinejad and Kim Jong Il saying 'isn't he lovely.'

all thats good about Obama
*hears the sounds of grasshoppers*
He reminded all the people who thought John Stewart was some kind of folk hero for slagging off the government that really he was just a stopped clock mouthing about Republicans. Now that Democrats are in his comedy is just as sychophantic and defensive as Fox News ever was when Bush was in power. Still better than Colbert though.

I vehemently disagree with this. Bush was hilarious and almost like a cartoon character with his inability to speak his own language. I can't stand listening to Obama talk, the overpowering stench of insincerity makes me gag and choke.

There's another one that was on the New Statesman a while ago. It even had the caption 'Badass Barack'.

The fact that he talks more left, even if he doesn't act it, and that his enemies characterize him as more left than he is pushes people further to the left.

I'm not feeling your logic on that one. If Marxism is reconcilable with witchcraft, we could possess him and carry out a Marxist program, but that wouldn't really be him. He takes on loan from socialist rhetoric because it's always popular in a recession. So, really, he's like Hitler.

I like him because it's funny when the idiot rednecks call him Socialist and Communist. I couldn't laugh at Bush being falsely accused of being a Red bcause he wasn't.
