I recently found an article from 1949 on capitalism and the means of production. It was a very good article and I was surprised by the author, Einstein. He argued similar reasons for a socialist economy and society as Marx. His understanding of the philosophical issues involved really impressed me (I had always just thought of him as a scientist). Here is the link, I find it most agreeable, but if you find anything objectionable please post it.

Things like this are why he became more popular than most scientists. He generally came down on the side of the oppressed and it helped make him the icon he is to this day.
