I'm making a mix for a friend of mine with songs specifically about marijuana. So far I've got kind of a shortage. I need some advice. Here's what I've got so far.

Peter Tosh, Legalize It
Mystic Roots, Pass the Marijuana
The Byrds, Eight Miles High
Sublime, Smoke Two Joints

And a plethora of Cypress Hill songs.

Anyone wanna prop some of their favorite underground MJ shit?

Afroman - Because I got high

Or not. It's not really worth the time is it?!

I heard a really awesome song a while back, can't remember what it was called or anything but it was kinda hip-hop r'n'b, about how being here and smoking weed was the best thing i think. If anyone knows what I'm talking aobut please tell me the name of the song cos i really like it.

That CD is a great fucking idea, I'm gonna make one of my own.

Here are some suggestions off the top of my head:

Previously mentioned, "Mary Jane" by Sonic Youth and Cypress from the Judg ment day soundtrack

Bob Marley - Easy Skankin' (I'm not sure he wrote any other songs just about smoking)

Eek-A-Mouse : Ganja Smuggling and Police in Helicopter (little known but FANTASTIC songs by little known but pretty damn good reggae artist)

Mad Lion is a great rapper who has two potsongs I remember called "Ganja" and "Weed is all we need", but his talent mostly lies in rapping about killing people and not relaxing situations like smoking weed.

That's all I remember right now, but I might get back to ya.

InnocentCivilian - Yes, I have it, it's awesome :)

La Rainbeaux - I love that Luniz song, thanks!

Interesting. I think that song's more about hallucinogenic drugs in general than dope, but still, I guess it could count...

I could be about hallucinogenic drugs, I never thought of that. SOAD are pot heads so I assumed the song must be about dope :)

Heres something I took of their website that will clarify things:

6. How does System of a Down feel about marijuana?
They both support and smoke marijuana. Marijuana is a harmless plant that is illegal due to economics, not its alleged, falsely publicized "dangers." On the self-titled album, before Peephole, it says the following:

The February 18 edition of Britain's NEW SCIENTIST Magazine reports that the Geneva-based World Health Organization suppressed, under political pressure, a report which confirmed that marijuana is safer than either alcohol or tobacco.

In fact, Peephole was inspired by marijuana, according to what Serj said in this interview with 420Bands.com:

I've heard that your song Peephole is about marijuana... is it true? ...Can you tell us what inspired you to write it?

Yes it is. The inspiration came from the spirit of the plant itself, I believe as in all things we ingest. It's the avenues of the stoned.

Furthermore, the same interview shows Serj's view on legalization:

What's your position on legalizing marijuana?... Do you think it would help or hurt us?

Legalization is a must ! Scientific research shows that cigarettes and alcohol are way more damaging drugs than marijuana. The only reason it's not legal is cause anyone can grow it, so they can't always necessarily sell it to you in corporate dominated America. Not to mention the benefits of hemp as an agricultural asset. That's a whole other topic though.

The entire Kaya Album!

8 Miles High is about a plane trip over London, but whatever floats your boat. It'd still be like me saying "4+20" by CSN+Y, which has a marijuana title but has little to do with it lyric wise
