Charlie Brooker is a bit of a self righteous liberal tit, but all the same he's a self righteous liberal tit with a flair for witty prose.

I won't copy and paste the entire article, as given the format of the board here it's much more readable on the guardian website.

All that article proves is that the BNP broadcast wasn't aimed at the likes of Charlie Brooker. I think even Nick Griffin has given up on the idea of winning the allegiance of the Guardian-reading, liberal literati.

Exactly what I thought, Brooker is amusing but such a cock. He was brought up in some idellic 'biscuit tin', 'village green cricket' world where, no doubt, the coppers would give him a clip round the ear and send him on his way for any mischeif.

The rest of us have a different perspective on life....

Screenwipe was pretty good, Newswipe is decent, but all there ever is is his face talking on the screen sneering at things in his nihilistic guardian-esque middle class way. It kinda grates on me

I don't see whats so bad about this article at all. Its really good. Its highly critical and satirical from a good viewpoint, and is intended to be a bit of fun with a message. I'm under no illusions of 'Britishness' but his points are good and would appeal to alot of people, who see themselves as proud of 'their' country but not racist.

Holden, I don't see what you find so objectable. He didn't even mention the police. His style and critique in his TV programme's is one which I find really entertaining and this is just a funny critique of a party who basically beg to be taken the piss out of. The ending is what we might call 'liberal' but its hardly something completely awful.

I thought this article was pretty bad. Especially this:

He goes on to claim that, "We're all angry about professional politicians with their snouts in the public trough." He's right, we are: so angry we're prepared to instantly forget all the occasions we've fiddled our own expenses, thereby enabling us to add a dash of undeserved self-righteousness to our existing justified anger.

Pretty pathetic. I would ask what world such people live in, but he already answers: a world where "we all" do the kinds of jobs that come with expenses.

Sadly I can't really be angry at Brooker for this, as he is no more out of touch with how the plebian masses live than his colleagues, and at least he is funny.

Its the guardian, I doubt a single person who was considering voting BNP read it.

Articles in the guardian and independent denouncing the BNP are all wonderfull and that, but telling people from the left wing middle classes not to vote far right is a bit of an exercise in futility.

I am much more encouraged that the Daily Mail has come out against the BNP at the behest of its Tory masters, hopefully it will have an effect.

I don't think Charlie Brooker holds the pretense that the article was trying to convince guardian readers not to vote BNP. I just thought it was a pretty amusing article.

Brooker has never claimed to be some class warrior. He's fully aware of what background he comes from and who reads his articles. For a soft lefty he's top notch, he's funny and very intelligent.
