So someone got me a war video game. It's called "Call of Duty, World at War", and basically it simulates WW2 on a video game format.
I don't have any problem with shooting aliens or dragons but i've avoided war games bc it involves simulated ppl. Even though i disagree with that, i started playing and i try to play at least once a day now.
The forces the player ends up on are either the america marines, japanese imperialists, german nazis or russian commies.
I don't particularly like playing the nazis bc i only agree with them slightly about eliminating the zionists (if we could get rid of Israel, the rest would be ok in my book). The imperialists are ok too but between the japanese and germans, i don't want to shoot at the ruskies. They had a hard enough time in WW2 and lost 20 million of their own, so i feel kinda bad when i do that. Incidentally, that's the same reason i don't want to play as a rusky.
And i'll say it now, there's nothing more about that game i enjoy more than killing americans. I've mentioned it a few times while on xbox live but in retrospect, it's not wise mentioning that to other americans. And it's not that i hate americans as i do their capitalist governing, it's just that killing one's own ppl is the greatest form of protest next to killing oneself. And besides, most of them have mexican swine flu.
So the question is with regards to strategic positioning and/or ethnic preferences, which force would you (revleft) prefer to fight for and why?

The Chinese Revolution. Think about it. You start out as the young Mao, with a small party of comrades. Then you set out across China to subjugate and recruit peasants. After you raise a big enough army, you start taking major cities and establishing relations with the Soviet Union. Then, finally, you wage war against Chiang Kai-shek.

The RPG characteristics of the game would include things like weapons upgrades- training peasants who start out with shovels and rakes to use various weapons. Building camps for combat training. Resource planning and administration- agriculture, metal production, combat gear, etc.

Totally awesome. I'm sending this idea to a few software writers to see if I can make it happen.

I think killing anyone is a horrible thing. As i said, I don't condone to games that simulate killing real people. I'm cool with fantasy and sci-fi stuff. And with that being said, I have the same reservations about playing nazis (and americans for that matter). Even if it is a game but i started playing it at my friends request and found that i like the online gaming interactions and social implications.
So am i to understand that rhetoric about killing americans is ok? I'm new here so i've been filling myself in on the rules.
Out of curiosity, why do the jews get a free pass? They're acting out in global events much like the nazis did. Gaza for example.
And for the record peeps, I'm a mexican jew. Yeh, i know. hilarious.

I have personal reservations about playing marines and nazis. It bothers me but that's just me. I was asking revleft what position they would prefer in a WW2 knowing what they know now.
The nazis are evil, the imperialists are fascist, no doubt Stalin has his stigmas and america is the numer one terrorist nation in the world (in my opinion). And incidentally, has the record for the most destructive genocide in history killing 28 million native americans during colonization.
It's a hard call for me.

I'm all down for the jewish having a place of their own. But not at the displacement, suffering and deaths of palestinians. Here recently, the pope made a call to establish a palestinian state which is good, as opposed to Gaza where Israel is implementing mass genocide. But we all know the Pope Benedict was a brown shirt nazi and it's all too obvious why he would take an opposing stance against the jews.
I don't want to be like that about the situation. There must be a compromise between jew and palestinian to stop the bloodshed. They must share the land.
If that means cutting away at Israel then yes. That's what i want without sympathizing with nazis. (or the pope).

I think it's a great idea. There might be a little resistance to it though considering the video game demographics and political taboos.
On the same note, a similar game about Castro's takeover of Cuba with his renegade, ragtag militia would be equally inspiring.
You might have a better chance with that since i've been seeing so much "Che" glamorization in america.

for WW2 games i like to play the russians and start with their tokarev SVT-40 and just steal an MP-42 later on as a backup since there are tons of ammo for those.
