General Secretary of the International Workers Association Ratibor Trivunac and another
comrade have been arrested by the police while participating in the protest action
organized to show public outrage because of the visit of the US Vice President Joseph
Biden to Belgrade today, 20th of June. Illegal protest action was organized in the centre
of Belgrade, where the USA flag was burned and a short statement condemning role of the
USA in reproduction of capitalist relations, wars, exploitation and discrimination in the
world was read. We hope to have an amateur video clip of the arrest uploaded on-line to
www.youtube.com/inicijativa soon. ---- We are currently gathering informations on our
arrested comrades, while our lawyers are trying to get in physical contact with them.

The police also brought in the station famous independent film director, Zelimir Zilnik, who was there with his crew filming the actual event. After a while, Zilnik was released. As a reminder, Zilnik won the Golden Bear on Berlin Film festival in 1969 for his movie "Early works".

The maximum penalty for this is three months.

Getting exaggerated penalties for burning flags seems to be a new trend... ridiculous, though the term "three months" always comes up in my mind, hopefully they will be set free soon.
