Why does Fidel wear Adidas given the sweatshop conditions in which they are produced?

Because you can't boycott capitalism.

For real.
Big fuckin' deal if he wears Addidas, he played no part in organizing sweatshop labor nor does he have any connections with addidas outside of making custom clothing for Cuba. Is the "first-world" consumer at fault because he/she buys products that are made using unjust labor practices? No, so Fidel should be judged the same way.

The cuban basketball team is sponsored by adidas, so he gets it for free. If I got free adidas you'd see me in that shell suit

Come to think of it, that would be pretty bad-ass. Let's start a petition. In fact, it would be so inspiring that we would never need any worrying "What will happen to Cuba after Fidel?" threads ever again. Sounds like a win-win situation.

So now that that's cleared up, there needs to be a new subject for conversation. So. What do you put on when you're sick? Are you a Fidel adept, and therefore also wear Adidas? Do you put on your lucky g-string to make the illness go away? Do you even get out of your PJs in the first place, and make at least some effort to get up before calling in sick?

Presumably because he wants to wear a shoe and it happens to be made by Adidas?

Do you guys all think boycotts are totally useless? I'm still grappling with this one myself.

Yes all boycotts are useless in the sense that nothing is changing as a result of a boycott. Boycott's are really only useful to the person themselves. If one would boycott fast food for example, it is worth something to that person, but that person alone; because other people are still going to eat fast food.

the real reason fidel wears addidas is because he is a rebellious rebel. a rebel wears green military fatigues, a rebellious rebel wears addidas ;)

Yes. Boycotters think it will work if everyone does it, but that's not possible because some people can't afford to buy "humane" products (as if there is such a thing), and even if they could, like a mass boycott against Nike for example, then another company that uses the exact same policies would just get more customers.

So what! It is a shoe. We can't boycott capitalism, only overthrow it.
